might get a better response from the power hungry forum instead of the drag coefficientYah, instead of "For the love of God, no one knows!!And learn how to read at least well enough to comprehend the forum descriptions/names."

he'll get

"No one knows!!!!!!!" + various unsubstantiated claims. Then a heated argument will ensue over the advantages/disadvantages of turbos and roots super chargers despite the fact that the TRD s/c will be a centrifugal. Thread dies a slow painful death. Repeat.

does anyone predict that spending that much on a supercharger will atleast put my Tc hopefully in the 14's range on the quarter mile? If not, I doubt I will get it. Anyone have any idea?

Supposedly there will be two options the s/c one is intercooled stated 245 h/p the other is non intercooled 215 h/p I keep talking to trd to get some kind of answer about actual h/p numbers or part #'s or price since I work for toyota but they are'nt giving out that info yet :tap:

Most of the strings on the Super Charger assume that the unit is not in production, that package options, fine tuning and last minute production details are required. This is not necessarily an unproven design which requires lots of R&D. I suspect the S/C is ready to ship but is on hold for other reasons.

Why has Toyota not released the Super Charger? I am very sure that some of the Toyota dealers on this site will agree that bringing a high performance product to market requires more than just selling it. This is a large release of Super Chargers that will affect inbound units and add on sales, Toyota has never released a Super Charger on a scale this large.

• Dealer training: the ability to install the super charger and not toasting your engine, which is a large warranty claim that Toyota will be buying.
• Servicing of the engine, wear and tear which Toyota service bays will be signing off on.
• Trouble shooting electronics and tuning of the S/C
• Sales of a super charger, what is the impact and implied liability to the owner, dealer and Toyota who is bringing this to market.
• Do you dare call your insurance company and tell them you just added a super charger to your ride?

It is likely that most who want the S/C or Turbo did not realize that the insurance on the car just went way up, if they spill the beans. Not telling them…….and they find out, they could drop you or deny a claim.

Though I am optimistic for April 1st and I hope I’m wrong, my call is mid summer.

I posted this link in January, but it's still current. The reason for the delay was pretty simple, "it was too strong for the tC and had to be toned down some". There are 2 pages here and you will need to click on the 'more info' link at the bottom to get to page 2. Hope that answers some questions.

i work at a dealer and have installed many superchargers there are no star wars issues regarding serviceability/liablity
/diagnostis/training/warranty you just slap that puppy on the engine and away you go toyota sells s/c for their other
cars all the time and ive seen no reliabilty/repair issues so
when this tc jobbie comes out i dont think it would be a problem imo i dont think a s/c is worth what they charge after s/c installation and then a road test im not realy impressed with performance yes its enhanced but conserveative (i guess because they have to be)

So who all is going to be reporting their S/C or T/C to their insurance company? My good friend just bought a new car.. and traded in his suped-up '00 Si in the process.. the dealer who sold him the new car also had a hooked up Honda hatch.. both my friend and the dealer have had their cars stolen. They preceded to tell me horror stories about it.. the dealer's was stolen in broad daylight right out in the middle of George Mason University's parking lot, and my friend's was stolen several years ago right out of his mom's driveway!!. Anyway, long story short, both pretty much lost their assess because insurance co.'s only cover up to a certain amount of money with receipts for parts, if they decide to cover it at all (with regards to aftermarket parts you put on your car and never told them about).

So there's the dilemma.. either tell your insurance company and watch your rates skyrocket, or take the risk of not telling and either wreck your car or have it stolen and picked clean by thieves leaving you short however much money you paid for the parts.

Just telling you what I was told and I didn't say that they were trying to tone it down from 40HP. For all I know, they were starting at a hundred and trying to get it back to 60HP.

Well, Scion is now running ads about the S/C so thats a good thing. Check out this months "Modified Magiazine' if you get a chance. Its got the JoTech 600whp tC on the cover. The ads in the mag say the 2005 Scon tC w/ optional S/C are coming soon - prcing in the fine print says no more than $4,000 installed. So thats not too bad.

i dont think he means to strong in the sense that the engine cant handle it, im thinking if that was the case they got scared that it may be too "strong" to still have it at that high hp over stock and still be factory warranteed. they always want to be on the conservative side. we all know there will be tons of people turning the boost up once they get bored of the increase...
