New Helix Headlights for xB [Archive]

Available in April from Helix Automotive are these all-new angel-eye projectors for the Scion xB. They will be available styles with a euro-chrome housing or a jdm-black housing.

There is no difference. They look exactly like the ones I have on my car now.

I have tried to understand lighting but it all makes no sense to me. Do thses put out as much light as the stock lights? What makes these any better other than looks? Anything

Its all about the looks.

Actually these put out less light. Most of us that have gotten them have replaced the bulbs with Silverstars.

i saw a few pics of those a couple of days ago and they really caught my eye...im not a huge fan of projectors, but i actually like most of the ones i have seen for the xb so far

These are notable only for their lack of an LED eyebrow. However, they stuck those 3 LEDs under the turn lamp for some reason.

I just picked up a black set from e-bay for $230+30 shipping. I'll post picks as soon as i get them on. Should go well with the TYC tails and the overall black and white theme of the car.

Ok, always the guy who knows nothing, I've got a question. Are these the kind of headlights that don't have highbeams? I heard somewhere that if you swap out the headlamps your highbeams might not work.

Well Munch, now we know who the munufacturer of our lights is lol.

edit: To the people that say they put out less light.....not at all. Replace the bulbs they came with. These are not Reflectors, they are projectors. The beam pattern for these two types is different. They do not flood the road directly in front of you. They a=light up a broad area of the road, much farther ahead of you and to each side. The highbeam projectors for this unit are insanely bright and effective. The halos and led's come with wires that are not plug and play...So you can splice them to your liking. Wether it be parking lights, blinkers, etc.

those lights look alrite...i think the jdm projectors are nicer tho. if you want a bmw, buy a bmw...or just do a murakami :bow:

So i just take the super white bulbs out of my old pair and put them in these? I guess i have to buy another set of bulbs to fill the other 2 projecters right? The set I bought from e-bay said plug and play but i'll have to wait till they get here for the truth. Tell me if this is possible, I just want the 2 halos and led's to come on with 1 twist of the light switch witch now makes the turn signal bulb come on i dont want that. Can i do it where the turn signal only comes on when turning and not on the first twist? Dont read this post fast youll get a headache.

a little slower please i think i can answer your question.

you want the amber bulbs not to come on while the parking lights are on, but you want the halos on when the parking lights come on right.

easy. ill explain it the best way i can

(now i havent looked at the xB's wiring but this is a typical wiring for a turnsignal, running light)

there ia a dim lead and a bright lead (simple wording i guess) and a Ground. the dim lead is hot when the parking lights are on.. you can splice the dim lead off the running light and place that for the Halos and have the running light turned off.then your turnsignal should function properly.

remember i havent done this and wont do such a thing. so do this at your own risk. make sure you buy a Real Volt meter (Fluke meters) and maybe a test light if you dont have the money for a Fluke meter.

are these lights DOT legal. if they are im sold if not ill wait.

I think i am just gonna run the halo's and led's off of a missle switch on the pop out aux space. Just an excuse to use a missle switch i guess. I'll have 2 one for the headlights and one for future inside lights. The switch lights up when its at the on position too. Should look good if there not to big. Still waiting on the headlights they should be here this week. Cant wait much longer to get them on.

Here's a picture of the chrome version of the headlights on a BSP xB.
I had to splice mine into the parking lights. It wasn't too hard for someone that doesn't know anything about splicing. I'll get a picture later when they're on.

The high beams are ridiculously bright and the headlights are a great way to differentiate your box.

they look identical to me. DEAD on Identical. something is VERY fishy here
just the chrome and black trimmings are slightly different.

The Helix black ones are photoshopped obviously. Do you see any mirror surface under the projecters or rings on the LED's.

I think the bB in the pic would have looked a hell of alot better with the black ones. But maybe he is trying to be anti JDM, retro USA. So he got the chromies lolzers.

just to add my two cents the ones that you get off ebay (that i own and have mount) are not even close in quailty to the helix headlights. The ebay ones might be 100-190 and the helix 200-300 but the ebay ones that i own i now have to replace because they are shoty. helix halos are a more continous light thru the halos and the ebay ones have a choppy light. the ebay ones are made fragile and the mounting points snap easily, helix ones do not. so they may look the same but are nowhere near the same

I'm not sure if they were "Helix" brand but they are the same thing and I like them just fine, I got the chrome ones for my TCM xB...

Hey how long have you had your halos installed? Someone said once the halos are installed the burn out or something like that. Just wanna see how yours are doing. I have these lights and they haven't fogged up or anything. But they were the eBay kind soo idk.

Man in my opinion I think they are hott... but of course everyone is titled to their own opinion. Of course I love chrome so I'm kinda biased. :lalala:

Yeah my rimms aren't for everyone. I got them because of the blue inserts. I'm trying to go with a silver w/blue lighting theme. The rimms were $1800 with all weather tires and when I got them and they arrived I almost didn't like them because they seemed to look better when I seen a pic of them than they did in real life. Turns out just like the xB they are unique and once I had them put on the car I grew to like them and now I love them! The car looks really great with them I think.

I've had the lights on the car about 7 weeks now and haven't had any problems with them. The car really does look a lot different from when I bought it brand new stock from the dealer. I want to do the interior lighting blue next but that is going to be a real pain with the current way involving soldering.

the ones you buy off of ebay ar very cheaply made. When i recieved my lights the pasenger side light was missing three of the mounting brackets.

installed a set in mt XB in oct. they are great wired my halos so they are on anytime the key is turned on day or night just got amber leds to replace the 3 small bulbs with for a diffrent kind of look will put the in i guess in the spring as we have too much snow now--lol

Get the Helix Halos from a Helix dealer. The ones on Ebay are NOT real Helix and they aren't well made. One of our club members got them and they fogged after a month. The response from the ebay seller? Sorry, but the 7 DAY WARRANTY is OVER! He eventually bought the real deal.

Closest thing to these for a tC at the moment are the demon eyes ones. To my understanding, these are a kit to ADD to your current headlights, not a full replacement fixture. They look cool though. Search up "demon eyes" and you'll find 'em.
