My 2005 Scion TC has the TRD Supercharger which I had installed by a dealer in 2005. The supercharger has been making a "clicking" noise and needs to be diagnosed. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and not one dealership/performance shop is willing to open the SC up and look at it. The car is 4,000 miles out of warranty. From reading other's posts it sounds like the rod is going out and taking a bearing with it. The advice the dealerships are giving is to purchase a new supercharger. This sounds like telling me to purchase a new car because I have a flat tire. I was also told it would cost $2,260 to remove the supercharger to make it like it was when I originally purchased the car. I believe because it is a Toyota made part they should service the supercharger. In my opinion Toyota has dropped the ball and should take responsibility for parts they manufacture. I understand that the car is out of warranty. I have no issue with paying for a replacement rod/bearing + labor if the part was even available. I am also interested in having the supercharger removed if anyone has a recommendation for a garage. If anyone has gone though this and has any advice or if you just have suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.
