DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 03:15 AM and what are you lowered on, trds or h techs
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 03:18 AM Htechs....
That is a 225/40/18 tire... you can actually fit more on there but it was to late to do that :/
DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 03:22 AM yea on htechs you could probably have gone 245 with hardly any problems, maybe just alittle rubbing
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 03:26 AM Ya...Ima buy a 5axis lip kit next to bring the body of the car lower..without actually lowering it more...maybe Stech rear springs if i really want to
flintMicaTC 12-05-2009, 04:04 AM nice to see something else then the usual gold grids... look decent
flintMicaTC 12-05-2009, 04:05 AM tail lights, spoiler, and antenna gotta go tho....
Iceman04503 12-05-2009, 04:12 AM Those are nice man. Really digging those wheels. Those are my second favorite. 1st are the Advan V2.
09SocalTC 12-05-2009, 04:17 AM looks really awkward...needs more low
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 04:20 AM i figure ill be low enough with Stech rears..and a 5 axis lip kit..i think it will bring it all together...no?
I like the drop in the front...in person it looks alot better and lower..and not as awkward..but yes lower is better in my opinion too. I just dont wanna go so low I have to fender roll...
Iceman04503 12-05-2009, 04:22 AM Maybe if you go an inch or so lower it would look good.
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 04:25 AM in person the wheels arnt silvery at all..they are almost black...it flows really nice with the "metallic" black
When I go do a photoshoot with my canon XTI and edit the pictures you will be able to see its trueness haha
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 04:28 AM And flint the tail lights get tinted next week :)
And the spoiler goes when I get my carbon fiber hatch :)
how much does a short antenna cost? cause i was thinking the same
thekevin 12-05-2009, 04:50 AM looks really awkward...needs more low
Maybe if you go an inch or so lower it would look good.
yeah it looks really weird like that. if you're gonna go with concave wheels and stretched tires, it really needs to be slammed.
ihavenosn 12-05-2009, 04:52 AM The 5 axis kit will cut down the clearance that your bumper has to the ground, but the wheel gap is still there. If you can get rid of that wheel gap, it will look awesome, right now it looks kinda awkward. :)
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 05:01 AM well i have Htechs now...soo if i put stech rears on it...it should flow more evenly..
XIEmperorIX 12-05-2009, 05:12 AM Wait are you talking about putting on stechs only in the rear or changing your htechs out for stechs?
If you are thinking about putting stechs in the rear and keeping the htechs in the front then don't. That can be pretty bad for the car. You're talking 2 completely different spring rates so basically the handling characteristics of the front are going to differ from the back.
either get stechs all around or get coilovers..
DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 05:23 AM well the spring rates are already different from front to back.
Tein H-Tech F-185 R-308
Tein S-Tech F-202 R-336
not really saying i advise it but I dont think it will cause a problem really
XIEmperorIX 12-05-2009, 05:33 AM those rates compliment each other though. two different springs aren't going to compliment each other and I can't imagine the ride being a good one.
I know what you're saying but I can't see those spring rates working well together..especially considering the htechs and stechs have different drops as well which is going to affect other things as well
I mean feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but there is a reason why springs are sold in sets of 4 and not 2
DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 05:41 AM It would put him at about a 2" drop all they way around.
htechs are F 1.9 and R 1.5
stechs are F 2.4 and R 2.0
i dont think small difference in spring rates would hurt that much but maybe engifineer will come in here and explain since he is a suspension guru
XIEmperorIX 12-05-2009, 06:04 AM that's what i'm kinda hoping for actually lol if i'm wrong I would love to be told so. No sarcasm there either..i'm going based off of a guess and some things i've read in the past..
buuuttt..eithr way..right or wrong..still think the OP should get a full set of stechs or just get coils..:D
Checho 12-05-2009, 06:05 AM Your car is higher than Cheech and Chong together!
Grow some jubblies, go for coils, slam it, AND THEN slap the 5A:D Lip to finish the look, not to mention get rid of that pedestal ASAP
DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 06:12 AM that's what i'm kinda hoping for actually lol if i'm wrong I would love to be told so. No sarcasm there either..i'm going based off of a guess and some things i've read in the past..
buuuttt..eithr way..right or wrong..still think the OP should get a full set of stechs or just get coils..:D
yea i think he should just keep it the way it is and save for coilovers. Then he can set it where he wont have to worry about rubbing.
Iceman04503 12-05-2009, 06:54 AM You can buy the shorty antenna here:
http://scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173490&highlight=s2k
speedintc 12-05-2009, 07:14 AM looks pretty good. what do grids weigh?
DJ08tC 12-05-2009, 07:33 AM ^^They weigh like 22-23 lbs
Yanki01 12-05-2009, 08:13 AM sell those springs and get coilovers. at least racelands for cheap to slam it. those wheels are begging for some closer fender! do you have an exhaust tip?
- spoiler - antenna - tails - plate frame + coilovers = pretty damn nice!
PureToxin 12-05-2009, 05:16 PM I have a 2.5 catback custom magnaflow performance exhaust with a 4inch round angled magnaflow tip :)
and a electric cutout where the resonator use to be...and no it dosent rice out at all ..the stock header keeps it really smooth... sounds like a subie :)
I personally think the Rota Grids are the absolute best looking rims. BUT for the cost of those Htechs you could get the Riceland coilovers, they work great for me and I beat the hell out of my car. With a good inch or two lower it would look alot cleaner.
Also shorty antennas are cheap, might be worth the 20 bucks.
Maybe investing in a can of VHT nightshades would give the 'murder'd out look' that everyone around me seems to go for.
BZinn1 12-05-2009, 07:21 PM How long have your htechs been on the car, mine sits lower than that in the front and back.
CArefull mismatching springs,it will not work car handling will not be as good.
Carefull with the Five Axis kit if you do go lower, you really gotta payattention going out of driveways and in driveways, gets scraped up quick and it shows on it too.
Love the wheels and the way they look on the car.........one of my favorite rims look wise.
BZinn1 12-05-2009, 07:24 PM just noticed the snow........you in Houston......that was the one place in the news yesturday that got snow......lol
Yanki01 12-05-2009, 07:25 PM I have a 2.5 catback custom magnaflow performance exhaust with a 4inch round angled magnaflow tip :)
and a electric cutout where the resonator use to be...and no it dosent rice out at all ..the stock header keeps it really smooth... sounds like a subie :)
hmmm, fooled me. i thought it was stock with a tip. i guess the painted black got me thinking of stock.
G2Low 12-06-2009, 03:26 PM what also might look good is debadge the tc and paint the scion emblems gunmetal or duplicolor graphite
car has alot of potential! wheels look excellent! cant wait to see it lowered and wingless! im jealous! haha
PureToxin 12-07-2009, 02:44 AM I got my Htechs for 150 bucks brand new.
Im powdercoating the calipers kawasaki green.. what you guys think?another color...will be getting it done in like 2 weeks
and the Htechs look so much lower in person i swear ima have to take more pics...but yea lower does look better I agree.
Just installed foglights yesterday and a badgless grille.
And yea the muffler shop didnt ask me if i wanted the whole piping sprayed or not they just kinda did it on there own..which looks good i guess..in person...I think I wanna spray that tip...cause I DONT like CHROME! maybe hyperblack to flow with the wheels if i could find some.
and yes im from houston lol
Coming Soon (Within the next month)
-Antenna
-Smoked tail's
-maybe smoked headlight top and blinker?
-Kawasaki green calipers
-5xis lip kit
-Coilover's (if i can find a good price...i dont wanna cheap out on suspension..that wouldnt be wise)
Anymore suggestions? cough*turbo kit*cough
shupes31 12-08-2009, 12:33 AM for being cheap, i haven't heard anything bad about raceland coilovers. i was gonna suggest them. Love the rims though.
jrodTc 12-08-2009, 04:51 PM Anymore suggestions? cough*turbo kit*cough
cough*turbo kit*cough  Car looks good bro.
moar low and some negative camber to tuck them..lose the spoiler...pedestal spoiler is nasty IMHO, some 05-07 tails would look great. other than that looks good.
tCjosh 12-09-2009, 01:00 AM what offset are those wheels by the way??? i like them despite what everyone else says
I know they look amazing but they get bashd soo much on here. I would get me a set. And yes please lower it. Your car looks good but lowerd would make it look alot better.
Cabana 12-09-2009, 05:43 AM get some wider tires and lower it
PureToxin 12-09-2009, 04:41 PM +38 offset
I recently won a 400 dollar giftcard to my work which I will sell to a contractor and with that money I will buy some raceland coilovers :) and I dont now what ill do with the excess money yet lol.
TRD93 12-09-2009, 07:57 PM Looks good, in for lowered pics.
I love that exhaust so stealthy.
lifex 12-09-2009, 10:52 PM damn - im surprised that those are so flush with the fenders - nice choice
CreationBeyondRecreation 12-15-2009, 05:25 AM for being cheap, i haven't heard anything bad about raceland coilovers. i was gonna suggest them. Love the rims though.
they are damn cheap, only $240 now!
dqlostsoulz 12-15-2009, 05:49 AM ^ where and is that including shipping?
DJ08tC 12-15-2009, 01:50 PM ^^they are $278 on ebay with shipping but somebody posted somewhere how you can get 15% off
tCjosh 12-15-2009, 07:11 PM how can you get 15% off those coils??? more info?
dqlostsoulz 12-15-2009, 07:41 PM Yeh they are cheaper on ebay than on their site.
DJ08tC 12-15-2009, 07:42 PM you can get 15% off on i guess any ebay item.

CreationBeyondRecreation 12-15-2009, 10:12 PM ^ where and is that including shipping?
oh damn...i forgot about shipping. Shipping is pretty expensive on their site. The link DJ posted works good!
I still remember Shin was the first one to rock rota grids...dang....cant believe 30 order scion owners followed his path with the same specs.
ajames1208 12-22-2009, 08:20 PM did you have to readjust your camber and flare/roll your fenders?
PureToxin 01-04-2010, 06:51 PM nope...im not low enough to need rolled fenders....im on Tein Htechs...but im getting coil overs soon
mileoutrage 01-05-2010, 02:29 AM i like it, looks good, get some wider tires and lower it more
dqlostsoulz 01-05-2010, 02:54 AM My H&R coilovers are going up for sale soon if ya interested?
09SocalTC 01-05-2010, 03:35 AM i like it, looks good, get some wider tires and lower it more
the stretch is perfect...it will play out once he goes lower
ktothesass 01-05-2010, 03:51 AM yea stretched tire on a non-lowered car is just facepalm
09SocalTC 01-05-2010, 04:11 AM rears would look better with a 5 or 10mm spacer
PureToxin 01-09-2010, 04:57 PM ya the spacers would look legit.
I have a question and i figured id just go ahead and ask it hear since i have pics of the car up and i know there is prob a thread on it already.
If I buy just the front and back lips of the 5 axis lipkit will it be flush with the stock side skirts...cause the drop on the 5axis sideskirts look awesome they just are not level with the front lipkit.
And two any ideas on what color to paint my calipers...i think if i painted them kawasaki green they would stand out way to much and take away from the car.... the calipers are not your main focal point of a car..its just a in the mix kind of deal, so any suggestions would be nice...maybe even black would look better than stock...

I'm pretty sure the 5 axis kit comes with everything (skirts, front, and back). I don't think you can get just the front and back.
Aroddalobster 01-11-2010, 02:11 AM fivaxis rear and fronts hang way too low to mate it to stock or any other side skirts out there for the tC without looking off-balance.
scionrider1107 01-12-2010, 08:47 PM I kno a guy wit the white Tc an he has H-tECHS Tein springs on his car, here's the thing he's riding 18's wit a 235-40 size tire and a nice body kit. The wheel/tire combo is rite their at the fender an he rubbs a bit also, 235/40 is plenty, as for miss matching rear S-TECHS with front H-TECHS, I don't see the point; ur handling will be off, keep the Tein h and go bigger on the tire, an it wont look so akward! GOOD LUCK!!1
kevin091988 01-27-2010, 03:17 AM whats turning radius like? Can you still turn lock to lock?
mindoculae 01-29-2010, 08:23 PM Cool rims. Congratulations. I love the fit relative to the fenders. I too am considering 18x9.5 wheels with 225/40 tires and was concerned about any rub and overlook fit.
scion_andrew 01-29-2010, 08:41 PM wat part of texas u from?
love2accelerate 01-31-2010, 06:52 PM i like the black on black stuffs all over the tc
SCION10000000 02-02-2010, 05:35 AM dude i have the trd shocks and strust and the tein s-techs on my tc, as long as you have after market shocks/struts with you after market spring, you wont have to worry about rubbing, you wheel setup that you have (18 18x9.5)..is sick!..thats the same setup i want for my car, trust me ive done some intensed research, thats why i got the performance in handling, so when i put those bad boys on i wont have to worry about rubbing..defenetaly go with s-techs,,,but do have in mind, you do have to roll your fenders, its no big deal and its real easy and you dont even notice it from the outside..
SCION10000000 02-02-2010, 05:39 AM s-techs all the way man...
dqlostsoulz 02-02-2010, 05:45 AM ^^
that looks kinda high for s~techs
xdejablu3x 02-02-2010, 06:10 AM ^^
that looks kinda high for s~techs
yeah....my htechs kind of look like that.
09SocalTC 02-02-2010, 06:19 AM s.techs still wouldn't be low enough anyways...
CreationBeyondRecreation 02-02-2010, 10:18 PM raceland coils FTW!! bahahah kiddin ;)
still would probably be lower than your "s-techs" though
BRUIN 02-02-2010, 10:38 PM Phenomenal! I love them! Especially on the black!
