Default MAF sensor issues w/ CAI

I got the Tenzo CAI and ive been getting the CEL Ive tried every single "fix" I could find in the web and no success grrrrrr Only thing i havent done is switching it to a Short Intake; before i do I was wondering if there is a way to check if the actual MAF sensor is bad? Or if i just ride w/ the CEL on due to that will the car perform badly????

Thanks

Have you checked to see what code you're actually getting?

did u disconnect the battery for 5 mins? checked the actual maf sensor itself to see if there's any debris on there?

either your maf is dirty or bad. Reset the ecu, but just putting a pipe on your throttle body wont mess anything up

i was told that with the diameter of the pipe being slightly larger where the maf goes is what causes the cel. i noticed on the fujita that the pipe steps down in size where the sensor is located. it doesnt make sense to me why the diameter makes the light come on because you can only flow so much air into the motor so idk what makes the sensor think something is wrong

wat model is ur car? wat year is ur car? ur car and cai must have same year. 05-06 tc have smaller hole for the sensor. 07+ have larger holes.

Make sure the sensor isnt dirty, or installed backwards.

Sorry shouldve provided more info i have 07 tc; yes i reset ECU thats the only thing that clears the CEL; sometimes it will go off till i hit 80miles or once i hit 250 mile or recently its just after 25miles;

I bought MAF sensor cleaner did that No success!!! I will try to clean it again tomorrow but ive read that most ppl had better luck switching it to short.

Let's say I decided to leave it CAI and i keep riding with the CEL and it's the MAF code; will this reduce the performance of the car?? Im thinking yes, (but iam a noob so just asking) seems logical that the ecu could send a mssg to protect engine

Tomorrow ill pass by autozone and get the code as well
Any other suggestions? Thanks for all of the help!!!!!

Also, how can I know if the actual MAF sensor is bad??? (will suck if it is grrr)

a code will help, but if the MAF doesnt fill the entire pipe and unmetered air is getting by it, it will cause a code. But thats the only reason I could think of.

ughhh some people just dont ever get it........the 07-08 scion tc have a 2.5 inner diameter pip from factory if u use anything larger u WILL GET A CEL!!! reason being is the larger the diameter the less air is being metered, the smaller the pipe the more air is being metered, if u were turbo or did any tuning urself you would know this cuz you have to adjust maf readings according to your pipe size

Yes I think we are all aware of that, and the tenzo intake becomes thinner in the section that the MAF sensor is hooked up on. So im thinking it cant be the issue since ive seen tc owners with this intake and no CEL. So im pretty sure it cant be that......... But you hit a point; how can you adjust the maf readings?? stand alone???

no any piggyback can adjust maf readings, AEM FIC is the best bang for you buck all around

try the silicone and if that doesnt fix then u might have damaged ur maf while installing it

you may also have evap codes p0456, p0455, p0440.. or even a/f sensor codes. i know toyota upgraded a/f sensor regarding incorrect reading lean conditions.

I have the FUJITA and I'm getting the CEL as well. Car was bought used with the FUJITA in there and it set off the CEL. Took it back to the dealer and they put a new MAF. It still went off. They said I need to change back to stock.
