Hello Forum,
I have been reading several GFI / CAI threads and havent seen this possability:
What would happen if you removed the stock system just after the air sensor, and just put on an aftermarket pod style filter. In essence, making a short induction.
Anyone ever done this?
Any gains or losses?
Any issues?
Nothing fits better than stock, and you should get a mean sounding grunt out of the engine.
When you want the oem setup, you just remove the pod, and put the stock air box back on.
Thanks in advance for your insight. I love this car, even though I have only had it for a week and a half!!!

well for one thing you will probably throw a CEL.
my suggestion? Either buy an intake or leave the stock airbox.

With the "poor mans james bond" intake you will not see any low and mid range gains.. you will see MINOR gains on the top end. It will sound good, but there are 2 guys that I know locally that have done this... For what its worth.. just get a short ram or a cold air.
Despite what you are being told.. a cold air will make your car faster... not OMG faster.. but you will certainly take out any stock tC with ease.
So, either do it with a CAI or a SR or leave it alone.
but thats just my $.02

This is all great info.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is SR?
Anyone done the K&N Typhoon series? I know it is warm air, but would it be better than a 150.00 system CAI off from ebay?
I bought one of the CAI 150.00 systems for my previous car, and it held up for about 4 years before the rubber began to break down. It was money well spent (back then).
Sorry for the questions, there just seem to be so many options.

Save up for a turbo if you want to go fast. I'm sure many people will tell you that haha. However, it is your car. I recommend the HPS Intake. It's just like the Injen, only cheaper.

HOLY SMOKES!!!
I cant find a short air at all on ebay other than the Weapon R's, and theyre not even close to 30.00.
If you see another, let me know. Everything is CAI now. And virtually NOTHING is showing for the 2010 either.

be sure to get an intake that's 07+ as your maf sensor won't fit/work with an 05-07 intake. I had the injen SRI on my tC before she bit the dust, and I loved it. sounded great, definite mid-high gains. win-win!
