View Full Version : S2K Projector Retrofit - sneak peek
miketf1 12-12-2009, 08:34 PM so my retrofitter sent me some sneak peak pics of my s2000 projector retrofit.. definately cant wait until i get them back!!!!
the original projectors. the "squirrel finder" output might not be that noticeable with the 35W HIDs but i have 50Ws in there and i definately dont like glaring people..

the s2k retrofitted in. such a clean cutoff with some good color on the line..

i only got this retrofit after i got a TSX retrofit into my honda ridgeline. i couldnt stand that my truck had a better cutoff than my xb :icon_razz:
ill post the pics once i get them back. cant wait!
chrischoi 12-12-2009, 11:07 PM Ridgeline isn't a truck. ;)
I gave up on the idea on doing my s2k retro because of the lack of space in the housing and the amount of work it would take. Sold the projectors and went to h9 bulbs in the low beams and fogs. Thumbs up to you for getting the project done.
udanijo 12-13-2009, 06:22 PM looks good, I want to do a retrofit so bad
drewsxb808 12-15-2009, 07:49 PM dang, big difference from the top pic, looks good.
miketf1 12-16-2009, 02:38 AM more sneak peek pics from the retrofit-er. this guy just keeps taunting me with pics lol... cant wait till they get back.. too bad i have to wait until i come back from my trip to put them on!!

this guy does awesome work.. the only way i can properly describe his work is that it looks OEM. like the retrofit goes in and it looks like it belongs there with no rough edges. perfect in my books. you cant tell by looking at the xb2 headlights that they have been retrofitted but when they are on and you see the cutoff then you know..

udanijo 12-16-2009, 06:23 AM I was just on that site the other day @ work and was thinking to myself "I wonder if the headlights in the pics belong to anyone on SL?" hehe...looks good
caliban 12-17-2009, 01:09 AM nice work Mike!

xseveredveganx 12-17-2009, 01:45 AM I'm curious how he shoehorned those projectors in there!!! I remember someone retro'ing the non-AFS RX330's projectors, but they're sub-par in comparision to the S2K's!!!
Now I want me some S2K's!!!
Ask Caesar if the TFX projectors will fit! That's probably what I'll eventually do.

whats up dood!

Exactly! I don't have the bank roll for S2K's, so I have to do the second best thing; the TFX hybrid. Plus, I know a guy that has a spare set of headlights because he got the halo-licious aftermarket pieces.
miketf1 12-18-2009, 09:12 PM quote from Ceasar about the TSX's.
Probably, but the fitment is very tight and the s2000's just barely made it. If you ask me the s2000's make a much better fit overall.
xseveredveganx 12-19-2009, 05:58 AM Gotcha. Time to pony up and scrounge around for some S2K projectors... *sigh*
Any update on these? I wanna get them to do mine as well. How much were you charged for labor?
miketf1 01-18-2010, 03:47 PM just installed them. im just waiting on a non-raining day to do a output shoot.
XD40tC 01-18-2010, 04:03 PM Do it now! Get to the choppa!
just installed them. im just waiting on a non-raining day to do a output shoot.
What was the turn around time from shipping them to getting them back ready to re-install? Just trying to get an idea of how long I'd be down without the xb or if buying an extra pair off ebay would be a good idea...
miketf1 01-19-2010, 03:17 PM well the xb headlights were very fast i would say that it was un-typically fast.
12/10 i shipped the lights, 12/11 the first headlight was taken apart, 12/14 the lights were dont and shipped out
i think my experience with my ridgeline headlights might be more faithful to Ceasar's time frame when he starts getting busy
9/29 i drop ship new headlights from a honda parts store, 10/6 he gets all the parts for my retrofit, 10/15 the projectors are in and he is starting the shrouds, 10/19 he sends me completed pics and ships.
so to be safe i would say he usually takes about 3 weeks.
Cool thanks for the info man! I have a pair of tsx projectors but I know I won't be happy with them after riding in a friends S2000 a few weeks ago. The s2k projectors are AMAZING.
miketf1 01-19-2010, 04:02 PM my car is still on ramps in the garage and when i fired them on the cutoff was soooo delicious. i have to say that the cutoff is better than the TSX but the modifcation that ceasar did to my TSX's made the cutoff very colorful. i prefer that on the truck but not the xb so im goood there

D_Unit 01-19-2010, 04:27 PM I remember Lightwerks from the bimmer forums I used to go to. I once did a custom bixenon fx35 projector with tsx lens on my old m3 and it made a WORLD of a difference. During that time, Lightwerks did a similar mod on his e46 m3 and it was the best and cleanest retrofit I've ever seen. There's lots of good people on hidretrofit.com, but Lightwerks has the cleanest work.
I used to love driving on the freeway and seeing the cut off line on either side of the freeway at night! $800 is steep, but definitely worth it.
xseveredveganx 01-19-2010, 08:42 PM $800 is a bit, but good luck finding S2000 projectors for a decent price. I've been keeping an eye on the fleaBay for deals.
No deals have been had.

ill post up a proper output shoot as soon as i can.. sit tight kids
D_Unit 01-25-2010, 02:20 PM good times! reminds me of my hidplanet days...
xseveredveganx 01-25-2010, 11:38 PM The search for S2K projectors is on!!!
