Default New to Scionlife

my name is shayne and I was browsing around and found SL, im 17, live in las vegas and been thru a few cars and now drive/share a 08 Scion Tc(SCM) with my grandfather, yes my grandfather, who loves the car just as much as me and he got it basically for me when i am older..

with that said, ive been trying to get him to start adding some mods, but as far as that has gone the only mods he's gotten are new floor mats haha, i myself cant afford anything yet due to being unemployed and still in high school.
he is afraid any aftermarket mod will void warrenty? is this true?
and also is there any scion clubs here in las vegas?

Don't worry about warranty. At least not at this stage. Welcome, and btw, to warn you, this forum can be a tough place to hang around. Don't take anything personally, its all constructive. And make sure to search before asking questions, you will be hounded about that if you aren't careful.

if you put that stuff on yourself and it breaks the dealer aint going to pay for it. just because it is trd doesn't mean they will warranty it.

If someone installed a TRD rear sway bar and lets say it snapped. If they went to their Scion dealership showed them the problem and explained what happened your saying Scion would deny covering it on warranty? They wouldn't ask for the receipt from the other dealership down the road they would just repair it. VS If you came in with a Hotchkis sway bar and gave them the same story.

They would not just go "hey, that is a trd sway bar it must have been installed at the dealer so lets warranty it." Of course they would ask for a receipt, unless my dealer is different and all the others stuff i have heard, now i do believe the trd parts have a 1 year warranty even if you install them yourself.

Maybe it's just my dealership. Every TRD part I've had a problem with they have taken care of it on the spot. Even after I got my system installed the idiots couldn't put the carpet back together right. I took it to Scion and they put a brand new carpet in for me.

I'm just saying TRD parts will always have a better warranty because its obviously from the same company your warranty would be honored.

yea, but it is like if you buy some subs at best buy then get them put in somewhere else and they mess up. Then you try to take it back to best buy to them fixed they will ask for your receipt and wont warranty it.

Im not trying to argue with you, that is cool that your dealer is cool like that, but most aren't. I haven't had any problems with my trd parts so i dont know what my dealer would do. I also wasn't saying the trd stuff is crappy, because I love my springs and rear sway bar.

yea, they will install them for a big fee probably. They charge a ton just for their own stuff at most dealers.

An exhaust is a super easy install, there is really no need to have someone do it. You just need some simple hand tools and some jackstands. As for the sound, just check out youtube videos. The agency power is a very good exhaust but is also pricey.
