View Full Version : Pics of Moonroof in xB
DibujoB 01-30-2004, 11:47 PM I've been getting a lot of people PMing me about the moonroofs we put in xB's through our dealership, and I've been promising to put some pics up. Well, finally I've got it done, and there they are:

It's a really clean install with power slide/tilt, and a better warranty than Toyota offers from the factory.
Anyway, sorry it took so long for me to get these up here. PM me if you still have any questions guys.
Drew
Munch 01-30-2004, 11:53 PM Is that the one that goes inside the roof when open. I saw one at the deadler today on a black xB here in NY. The price is $875 for the power roof that goes outside the roof and the other one was $1200 for the one that slides inside the roof.
DibujoB 01-31-2004, 12:13 AM we're selling them for $1495. It retracts into the roof, but it can also tilt. It's one touch, but you can also adjust in manually.

Day-um, I think I would want that if I didnt want to cut up my pretty orange roof....
Doc
Djuan 01-31-2004, 12:36 AM so is that double if you get rear moonroof also ?
DibujoB 01-31-2004, 12:39 AM Good question. We haven't experimented with that, and we haven't really considered it. The rear moonroof looks pretty cool...I know Jon's blue car is awesome, but it's something we're not offering at this time.
Al-Truistic 01-31-2004, 12:42 AM How long do you need for the install?

That's the same roof. I'm getting one in my Cherry xB. He told me the price would be around $1200 :D
DibujoB 01-31-2004, 12:47 AM Usually we can have it back within a day or so. It may take longer depending on how backed up the service guys are, but nothing extreme.

Cool...you east coast guys are so thrifty! j/k
DibujoB can you guys do the moonroof that retracts outside the vehicle. I don't want to lose head room.
Pablo_xB 01-31-2004, 01:18 AM So, is it just a really big saw that cuts the roof? How do you not get tiny pieces of metal and crap inside the car? Does it mess anything up? Is it possible that it will leak?
Sorry I have so many questions, I'm curious.

nice touch with the scion emblem
DibujoB 01-31-2004, 01:37 AM What's up Stylis?
I don't think I can get them done any other way, but the headroom really isn't much different.
In terms of how they install it...I really have no idea! I'd think there's more to it than just taking a saw and cutting out a square in the roof...I really should ask because I honestly am clueless as to moonroof installs.
As far as leaking and stuff....a factory toyota moonroof is warrantied for 3yr/36,000 miles. The aftermarket one is a limited lifetime warranty....I can't remember the specifics, but I think it's a lifetime warranty for leakage, and the motor and all that stuff is covered for 5 yrs/60,000 miles or something like that. I know it's better than the factory warranty.
Oh yeah...the scion symbol isn't actually an etching...it's vinyl! The way it's cut though it looks like it's etched...very nicely done.
DeanCouchey 01-31-2004, 04:41 AM so is that double if you get rear moonroof also ?
We asked out sunroof guy cause we were gonna get a fixed glass in the back and he said when they cut the roof there is a frame that they put in the roof to support the lost bracing and that its twice the size of the width, so it woulndt be possiable to put another one... according to him, maybe it can be done but as far I have been told it cant be.
DarkH666 01-31-2004, 05:43 AM That looks pretty sweet, and the Scion Eblem looks cool.
Djuan 01-31-2004, 08:09 AM actually one of the TSW members has it, i've seen it in person and its nice... but I still dont know how much he paid... ?
toybox1 01-31-2004, 08:13 AM DibujoB can you guys do the moonroof that retracts outside the vehicle. I don't want to lose head room.
man ... have you sat in mine????? it goes inside and even my father-in-law (who's gotta couple of inchs on ya bro  ) didn't have an issue
toybox1 01-31-2004, 08:19 AM mmmm .... dig the vinyl .... need to get to the vinyl shop
WagenMaster 02-02-2004, 07:13 PM I don't know if you've ridden in them much but is there much of a difference in noise inside the cabin from having the sunroof? Also, based on the photos it seems as though they just cut the roof/ceiling and have the current headliner used as the sliding cover placed between the stock headliner and roof, so wouldn't the headroom actually be improved about 1/2" when it's closed??? I'm planning on having one installed on my Hot Lava RS1...thanks!
DibujoB 02-02-2004, 07:24 PM I've never even really noticed a difference in the headroom...the change is minimal whether it's more or less.
Noise isn't really an issue either (usually because I've got the stereo bumping and the exhaust is kind of loud...a little ricey for my taste, but that one was the parts guys call). It's a nice addition to the xB...all the huge roof space begs for something to be added.

must be a east cost thing we can do the same thing... power sunroof installed for $1200.00 takes about a day...as Drew said above it comes with a better warrenty than a toyota installed sunroof....of course Drew we don't have as much sunshine as you Cali guys :D
DibujoB 02-02-2004, 07:31 PM lol...yeah, that's why ours is $200 more than you east coasters....it's a sunshine tax. Kind of like why I'm renting a shoe-box size apartment for $900 with no dishwasher, a/c, heat, or laundry. It's the Beach Tax.
Everything is so expensive back here. I thought Chicago was bad....if and when Ali and I move home we're going to be such a lay-down for some real estate agent! lol

Yeah some thing are cheaper...the D.C. Metro area has one of the higher costs of living in the country...but some things are cheaper...of course you add that sunshine tax and I think we all are squared huh???? I sold a buddy of mine a MR 2 spider in Oct...it's sitting in his garage...gotta hate that
