So I took out the oil pan to change the gasket...

I cleaned up the old gasket from the oil pan and under the engine..

When I apply the new sealant gasket maker from auto store, and install it back to the engine,
I got all the bolts in except for 2. It seems like it wouldn't tighten,

What could be the problem here? Please help.

youre supposed to finger tighten all the bolts and then torque them to spec... oh and skip every other bolt. im not sure thats what your problem is though

 

probably stripped out the threads, or broke the bolts

 

nah the bolt is still fine
and i did hand-tighten it i don't have air tools..

just those twos bolts i don't know why...

it catches threads but cann't tight to spec don't know why..

is it cause of the sealant gasket ssurrounds the threads?

 

You might have messed up the threads where the bolts screw into. I mean if it catches threads and screws but then wont tighten that seems like the culprit. Maybe go buy some shorter screws and try that?

I dont see how that could be it. You got all the other bolts in. The 2 go in but wont tighten down all the way. Stripped 99% sure!

no need to reseal it, honestly if those bolts arent side by side its probably not a big deal

 

i think i stripped out two of mine as well...they were on opposite sides so i just didnt worry about it...no leaks as of yet and its been almost a year

 

i have bout 4 stripped on mine ill rethread them when it gets to spring time 20 inches of snow in MD sucks for working on cars, BTW sealant doesnt seal as well when installed in cold temps
