Turbo/Supercharger
it all depends on what your budget is. both are going to be pricey
turbo say goodbye to any warranty you might have
trd sc wont make as much power generally speaking, but you can keep you warranty. some horror stories out there about people going thru multiple trd superchargers with not much help from the scion dealers who installed them, but there are also people with no problems.
alot of it would come down to what kind of aftermarket support you have local. I personally have no shops that would be willing to turbo a tc within a 4 hours radius, so that option was out for me...

You can turbo cheap, fast, and reliable depending on your definition of each and install ability.
You can probably get a used Greddy turbo under $2k (check the PPC section, one is up there right now), and will give you 215-230 whp, plenty fast for daily driving. If you can do a self install and wire up and mount the essential gauges (boost, AF/R, oil pressure) then the main thing affecting reliability will be the tune. With a good tune, a turbo can make a nice daily driver, just make sure to upgrade the clutch.
For turbo brands, my personal order would be ZPI < Greddy < Turbotoyotas, Turbonetics < Dezod S1, Descendant < PTuning.
ZPI isn't a bad setup, but they're no longer in business so there is 0 support. Greddy isn't much better since the only stateside representation is sales, almost no technical support, even getting replacement gaskets, etc. Dezod in my mind has the best value with the S1 kit giving you decent performance and a pretuned ECU and automatic trans compatibility, Descendant is a couple hundred more but a very nice kit, and PTuning has the nicest fit, finish and power potential, but is also manual only, the most expensive, and probably works best with their equally good but expensive exhaust.
Take my brand opinions with a grain of salt though, I do not have a tC not have I driven a turbo one, my experience is with the 1gen Greddy xB turbo, S/C and Dezod / 365Motorwerks Garrett turbo. Opinion is based on talking with respective turbo manufacturers, seeing their kits in person, taking with kit owners, and trying to condense information on the forums. Please count to 10 before you decide to flame me.
