View Full Version : Bald tC tires already?
Candy_Sales 01-03-2010, 06:21 AM Does anyone know if the tC's stock tires bald up fast. I've had my tC for almost 9 months now and i already need to change the tires. This never happened with my old car and was wonder is this is normal or not for a tC. Thanks.
tCtCtC 01-03-2010, 06:25 AM Depends on how you drive the car and how many miles are on it. Plus, the stock tires suck.
08_Scion_tC 01-03-2010, 07:01 AM The stock tires do suck, there a very soft tread. Just remember to keep rotating them and keep your tire pressure good when you buy your new ones it'll help prolong the life of the tires.
Joyride 01-03-2010, 07:04 AM im running balds too, i forgot to rotate OH WELLZ LOL
08_Scion_tC 01-03-2010, 07:07 AM ^ I go through tires like crazy! 33,000 miles on my car and I'm on my 5th set lol.
Joyride 01-03-2010, 07:11 AM Kurt...thats just wrong LOL
game-over 01-03-2010, 07:46 AM ^ I go through tires like crazy! 33,000 miles on my car and I'm on my 5th set lol.
1 of those sets were from the flat spots... lol i'm kidding...
3min3m2 01-03-2010, 04:26 PM 9k on my first set, and that much almost cost me the car in the rain once...
Otherwise, 72k, and i need set number 4 now. IF u want high tread life, give up performance...
toeveryhour 01-03-2010, 05:06 PM i can't remember how much i put on mine but i know i at least had 20,000 miles
DJ08tC 01-03-2010, 05:07 PM The stock tires do suck, but I got 2 years 34k out of the turanza's that came on my car. They were pretty bald at the end but they did fairly well for my driving style.
draxcaliber 01-03-2010, 05:13 PM correct, what is the mileage on your tires. being that they're low profile tires, they have a shorter tread life than regular tires. mine lasted about 25k miles. funny thing though, my mothers 05 subaru legacy 2.5 gt had the same stock tires as my tc did, but she got over 50k out of them. didn't replace them until she came back to it one night and the tire was blown out!
10gxiong 01-03-2010, 05:27 PM I agree that the performance of the stock tires did suck, but they did last me about 35,000 miles before I replaced them because one of them went flat on me and I was also taking a roadtrip. If it weren't for them going out and the road trip, I probably could've done another 5,000 miles on them.
yellowxhoodie 01-03-2010, 05:53 PM whats a tier?
highvoltage1 01-03-2010, 06:26 PM Its a scion tc stock tire. It not even spelled right cause the suck so bad! LOL
I really cant seem to get around how the stock yokohama's are like over 200 bucks last time i checked and suck horribly. Much cheaper tires perform 20times better.
Iceman04503 01-03-2010, 07:10 PM I currently have 31,000 on my stock tires and i still have thread for another 10k or so.
Theres a place near where i live whos selling 215/45zr/17 91w tires for 300. Mounted and balanced included in the price. Not sure what brand they are. Good deal?
mystik 01-03-2010, 07:14 PM 31k miles on mine as well and they dont look too bad.
tcbabe 01-03-2010, 09:13 PM i've got about 16k on my stock tires right now, and they're getting pretty worn...its no fun trying to drive in the snow like that, so i guess within the next few weeks i'm going to be buying some new tires :(
203superwhitetC 01-04-2010, 12:45 AM I replaced mine at around 21K w/ Continental Extreme DWS 225/45/17's and they're GREAT in everything. It's an aggressive tire. Take a look at them.
sciontC 01-04-2010, 01:09 AM replaced stock tires after like 11k miles i think.
game-over 01-04-2010, 01:11 AM I still had 2 stock ones on the car after about 25k
08_Scion_tC 01-04-2010, 01:54 AM I hate to see how quick I'm going go through tires now being boosted.
3min3m2 01-04-2010, 04:01 AM Yeah I agree...

Max016well 01-06-2010, 10:21 AM Stock tires are only good for burnouts :]
scionrider1107 01-11-2010, 12:03 AM I replaced mine at around 21K w/ Continental Extreme DWS 225/45/17's and they're GREAT in everything. It's an aggressive tire. Take a look at them.
I have the ContiExtremeContacts DWS's also, at around over 30,000 miles, I swapped out the stocky Yoko's for the phenomanal DWS's which I absolutely love by the way! The tire is just flat out amazing, doesn't matter if drive in the rain, dry road or snow, the DWS is the tire to have and got it. (I have the 215/45 on my Classic Silver TC, Manual trnny):bow::)
3min3m2 01-11-2010, 01:25 AM I was looking at getting those, glad to hear a good review...

scionrider1107 01-12-2010, 01:07 AM I replace my Yoko's at around 29,000 miles, my tire of choice after scouring the net and back an fourth between numerous tires are the CONTINENTIAL CONTIEXTREMECONTACT DWS ALL-SEASON TIRES 215/45 17''! The best choice ever!
Candy_Sales 01-16-2010, 09:05 AM Alright thanks! Now does anyone know a good place to get them for a good price???
SeanJohn 01-17-2010, 08:01 AM I have a 2007 tc, with about 43xxx miles on them. Replacing them tomorrow. One tire already blew, and the other one is about too. yeah i need them bad.
DJ08tC 01-17-2010, 09:16 AM Alright thanks! Now does anyone know a good place to get them for a good price???
tirerack has them for 119 a piece which seems to be the cheapest that i see
myr6goesfast 01-17-2010, 08:01 PM Went 47k on the stocks and they were at the wear bars. Rotated every oil change. Even went to the drag strip every week for a few months. Any tire is better than the stocks...
EAmon 01-17-2010, 08:12 PM Alright thanks! Now does anyone know a good place to get them for a good price???
