the set of wheel locks i got from trdsparks were Mcgard cone seat types. the stock lug nut has a flange at the end. when i got the locks a month ago i just put them on w/o thinking much about it until now. should i get some washers to go in between the wheel and the locks?

There are no instructions that say anything about using washers. Mine have been on for months without them. I think you're fine.

it's just that they look so much different since the stock nuts have a wide flange that presses wheel onto the hub i guess.

They do look different, but... well... the whole thing looks different. None of them truly have washers, so I'm not worried. Plus I don't think that the locks hold the wheel on as robustly as the other nuts - I just think of it as lock first, nut second.
