i'm using a canon 1d mark IIn...3 years old, but still good...i've been shooting a lot of ISO 3200 lately as well

i was thinking of getting the 1d when i get back from afghanistan, what are your pros and cons for it? ive been reading alot of reviews and everyone really seems to like them and their only complaint seems to be the weight.

i'd opt for a 5d mk II if weight is a concern

No sorry I was just saying that that was there only complaints. I'm not to worked about weight. I looked at the 5d but it only shoots at 3.8 gps I believe and I want a faster continuous. that's why I was looking at the 1d mark 3.

Day 17 - I hate rain but am loving ISO 3200

i mostly want it that fast for drift shots and skating. those are my main uses as far as the shutter speed. i was debating on getting new lens's and another flash (my wife broke it) for my d60 or just going all in on a better camera. so i decided why not just get a better camera.

what about the mark 3 have you heard?

Y is everyone so afraid of noise? It's the same as GRAIN from film. Just not as sexy. ha ha I think the people that originate from shooting FILM aren't so afraid of higher ISO's cause they know there isn't anything wrong with "grain/noise" It seems to be the newer generation that has only shot digital that seemed to be afraid of noise. I think shooting at Higher ISO's can actually make a break the look/feel of a photo.

Don's shots at 3200 have actually inspired me to shoot past 1600 and step up to 3200 and just try it out for a week on my 365 project.

if you're shooting sports, then the 1d series would be ur best bet...may even opt for a used 1d mk IIn so you don't completely break the bank.

I come from shooting film and I don't see noise being anywhere as glamorous as grain. Try shooting some IR film and then noisy digital... it's not the same. Noise is definitely a different taste and takes a lot to get used to and even be somewhat happy with the final outcome.
