Default 09 Sub w/ Aftermarket HU?

Hey ive run into a 09 sub that goes underneath the trunk mat, im just wondering if theres anyway to make that work with an aftermarket headunit because i know someone said its like plug and play but has anyone gotten it wired up to work with an aftermarket HU in an 06?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe its attached to the front speakers. as long as your headunit is giving bass to the front 2 speakers, the amp built into the sub should take it from there.

you mean you have the 09 sub, but havent put it in the car? in that case, i think it's wired to power and the front speakers, but i havent seen the connections... its buried in my trunk.

in the 08-10 tc's, the subwoofer's signal is recieved from the front speakers. since you don't have that year, you don't have the harness.

if you want to use the amp that is connected to the whole assembly...your best bet is to go to a junk yard and see if you can get a subwoofer harness out of a 08-10 tc. then find someone who has a 08-10 tc, that will allow you to use a DMM (digital multimeter) to determine which wires are which. you would then run rca cables but get an RCA pigtail (goes from rca plug to bare wire, you can make your own, just strip a rca cable), to the appropriate + - wires in the harness.

if you don't want to use the factory harness/amp, i would just go get a small amp and run the subwoofer straight off that. i believe it's only like a 35w amp.

you could just use some of the crimp wire taps to attach wires to the front speakers, but without a diagram of how they actually hook up, that could be dangerous and difficult...
