Default Any Xd anti-roll bar before/after?

I just put down a deposit on a 2010 Xd, and am now mulling over what to have them stick onto it before I get it. For suspension, I'm considering just going with the anti-roll bar at this time.

Any before/after impressions, particularly with the factory option TRD bar?

my suggestion is not to have the dealer put anything on as they will overcharge you, and instead buy the item online for cheaper
try trdsparks.com

Noted, thanks.

Any predictions on notable performance changes (improvements, hopefully)?

The roads around where I live are on the winding end of the spectrum, so seems like a prudent mod. Although they can also be rough, so maybe there's a risk of jumpiness due to the bar.

i've yet to actually get a rear sway bar on my car yet, but everyone that has, has pretty much overwhelmingly noted a vast improvement over the initial handling of the car.

Ah, good to know. Yeah, I just looked over the TRDSparks page, and it looks like something EVEN I could do

So I think I'll put this in the "write it down now, think about it later" category.

Yea, they are incredibly simple to install.

I will also add that there are other aftermarket companies than TRD that make this sway bar, heres one such:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=169719

TRDs can be had around 155.00,

These run 135, and 170ish respectively, so cheaper for the same size, or a little more for one thats a tad larger.

You will definitely notice a difference when cornering when you have the sway bar installed. It's super duper easy too, though I had mine installed for me and I just watched :D

Ordered the Ultra Racing 19mm from microimage.com. Hopefully everything comes together for a weekend install.

I noticed they appear to be shaped a bit differently - the TRD has an extra curve in the middle bit. Although maybe the two units were just shot from different angles.

To wit:

Vs.

Heh, if I wasn't married, or married to a car enthusiast, I would have too

$136 is just a little easier to explain than $160. And helluva lot better than $250 from the dealer.

I'm also looking into one - what is the difference (performance wise) between the thinner and thicker sway bars? And how thick is the TRD one?

TRD is 19mm

and I am not completely sure, but i imagine the thicker one provides a slightly more rigid turn in.

Right, that makes sense since the thicker bar would bend less and anchor the wheels together more...

I installed the TRD sway bar (from trd sparks) a couple of weeks ago and am very happy with it. I can see why Scion didn't include this as just a standard part of the suspension system. The rear sway bar does just what it is supposed to do, and tightens up the back end considerably. As a result, the over all ride comfort takes a turn towards the 'sporty' side that some new car buyers might not be too big on, especially when one considers how short our wheelbase is. I am still getting used to how the car drives with the sway installed. The noticeable over-steer that existed before the install seems to have become a thing of the past, the car now stays right with the wheel as I turn. It is still a surprise when I'm taking a clover on/off ramp, or tight street turn at a higher speed and the severe lean that I expect when turning the wheel doesn't happen and the car stays right with the road. Of course, the loaf of bread in the back has now been smashed flat by the 2-liter coke, and the once dozen carton of eggs has about 3 keepers left.....just be careful of these kinds of hazards and you should be fine.

I have a TRD rear sway.. I got it a couple of weeks ago. It is the best purchase ever. My handling has improved immensely, even passengers notice the lessening of the feeling of roll. The understeer has gone away so much, I feel alot safer attacking corners and windy roads the way i want to, and even in town driving feels alot better.

It's my only modification right now. I am very impressed
