TheKnown 02-14-2005, 09:02 AM i have both chips on the hood and bumper, as well as these window dots you speak of
Somnambulated 02-14-2005, 09:18 AM I will be selling the 3m clearbras soon for cheap. and get some touchup paint, patch those.
smash 02-14-2005, 01:50 PM sorry I've never had the glass problem.. but let me just say ya better get used to those chips cuz soon there will be more than you can count :)
3M ClearBra = a very good investment
I will be doing mine as soon as I get the front end of my car repainted. :(
litobirdy 02-14-2005, 02:04 PM question... if you put this Clear Bra on.. wouldnt it be weird to wash ur car.. i mean ur not washing the paint.. ur washing the bra.. and wouldnt it come off when your drying the car since ur gonna be kind of rough??

not very likely.. although it can be peeled off by hand; to my understanding it's a thin, durable film that would be fine if washed.
litobirdy 02-14-2005, 02:22 PM hmmm weird to me.
f1nch 02-14-2005, 11:28 PM hmmm..yea the clear bra might be a good idea... and so nobody knows what these dots are??? hmmmim gonna go to the dealership and have them check it out... :tap:
Somnambulated 02-14-2005, 11:31 PM You should. Try using some rubbing alchohol on the dots on your glass... They might just be tree sap.
a lot of toyotas have these dots on the rear windows, my mom's camry has em and so does my uncle's avalon. They are not blemishes so mush as like a polka-dotted pattern, am i right? It was discussed a while ago but i don't remember anyone actually finding out what they were, best guess is it has something to do with how they made the glass. I have that on my tC too.
sorry about your paint chipstho, i've got one or two on my bumber... it's not as bad as the whole bottom of my bumper being all scraped up from curbs and speed bumps. 2.5" drop is a lot.
DJIce 02-15-2005, 02:33 AM Ok, not saying this is the right explanation, but my mom works for an optician's office. Apparently the dots are a part of the uv tint protection and what-not, and since more regular glasses and sunglasses are coming across with polarization, you can now see things you once couldn't.
Again, I have no idea how much water that theory holds, but its an explanation I've heard.
danman04x 02-15-2005, 02:51 AM i also have these dots, they are for uv protection. I can only see mine if i look at it in a angle in the sun
PunkInDrublic 02-15-2005, 03:01 AM Thats just how tempered glass is made.
bdballer69 02-15-2005, 03:12 AM how do you fix those chips..cause i have a lot of those on my hood...not so much on my bumper...tried scratch remover wax..don't work
Somnambulated 02-15-2005, 04:34 AM Thats just how tempered glass is made.
oooooh.... The transparent grid of larger dots in the rear window? Dude...

Yes to my understanding it is, it's apparent in all cars with tempered glass windows, it's just more obvious on the tC's rear hatch due to the angle of it.
f1nch 02-15-2005, 08:53 AM ahhh yea i thought so....i noticed them and i was like WTF! :P alright though....i feel better now ! hehe
leonDB 02-16-2005, 01:56 AM Yeah, most new cars have those dots... here's a question: do they fade away in time?
As for the chips, it's a total bummer! I have two on my front bumper as well. Our paint chips so easily!
