Well i bought my self short shift kit for xa but it also say for xb ......i was just wondering if that is kinda true ? .........i mean i hope the guy didn't lie to me! he better not hahaha.......

Darren (hotbox05) has a RS-Type Short Shifter... hopefully he'll jump into and tell you how the 1-2 shift is, but he drive an xB, so I dunno if he browses the xA section much, so you might wanna PM him about it.

I bought the RS-Type as well, but never installed it. I ended up selling it because I didn't like how it couldn't fit the silver ring on the shift boot and the height was still the same, although the throw was shortened.

Have you installed it yet? Or you looking to get it?

I saw one of those on Ebay. I was curious is the housing metal? Pretty resonable price like $45 if I recall correctly.
Is the shift knob the same thread as the stock shifter?

well shift knob is not included but housing and other stuff yes as u see on the picture ..........i ask a guy if he is sure that this will work ......he said YES.......so i will keep u guys updated on saturday ok ? i will install it at that time ...........hope this will work fine .........

yes it will fit xa, xb cars...

some poeple have claimed it helped the 1-2 shift issues....
i never had the issue so i can't say if it helps...

hahaha yeah because u dont have xa lol .....i know its sounds different but belive me i have an issue between 1-2 ......on xb ? its not so much remarkable and also on the new xa rs 1 .....its also kinda same as on my xa .......

well they dont do much but give's the car little bit different look like "cat eyes" we are trying to make them little bit bigger .....btw tail lights are also included ...... i paid 35$ front and back custom made by my friend .......will see how it will work for next progress if we can make it carbon fiber etc .........

Don't do it Sid! Get a TWM!

Me=lazy. . . I like the ease of a drop in. I hate cutting. . . I hate popping things out of cups. . . but if the fit really is that bad, then I may opt for the TWM. Honestly the throw doesn't bug me; it's that when I have a passenger, I usually ram their knee when I shift into fifth gear.

well i installed the shifter in about 30 minutes was kinda easy for a guy that never did a car repair or what so ever but i am an IT guy hahah........anyway the shift trow is little bit better "shorter" and 1-2 gear trouble is gone ! BUT ......my shift metal thingy is bigger for 2-3cm ???????? that kinda didn't bother me so far ...........but anyway i was expecting more from this shifter as they represent it ? .........

no not realy man except that when i have it in gear its like 1cm loose the shifter goes left-right? .......i mean it doesent bother me .........as long as it works ..........duno i woudnt recommend to buy this till i dont get some issue resolved i will keep u updated guyz

hmmm. . . I dunno if I am thinkin of the same thing, but my shifter moves a bit too (and it's stock). But there isn't a huge amount of play, but the shifter isn't exactly cemented into position either. The play only feels about 2, maybe 3mm max. But 1cm is A LOT!

yes thats what i had with my stock too ........ 1-3mm i mean u can barely feel it ...........but this one is wowwwwww :) .............................

yoooooooo i got ittttttttttttttttt YES YES it was everything my fault i checked the short shifter and someting was just not right the bolts that came with the shifter i put it under the shifter housing but they acctualy go in the housing and then u tight it.................

well i do have short shift now ! and its a lot lot quicker to shift i woudn't say 40-50% but at least 30% !!!! and i LOVE IT !!!!!

The plastic ring is to keep the shift boot from falling off or sagging, and usually the chrome ring goes over the plastic ring, I think?

duno i didnt found no chrome ring but i saw people had some problems taking that off and i didnt have 1 ? 2005 xa ?

oh that thingggggggggggggg yes i did have that ring sorry i saw some ring on the shifter by xb i will try to find u photo and i swear i didnt have that thing not as the guys shows what to do lol............... btw i took that ring off and that shifter mikochu that u showed me is SMALL smaller then mine is and i really woudn't like it so so small lol .....i am only 5.7 hahahaha short handed !

hm duno but this shifter i got is perfect it is just like for 1-2 cm smaller but the shift throw is smaller a bigg time....... i would say 25-30%

It's the silver ring under the shifter and keeping that up is two little rings, one plastic and one foam.
