anyone with a Kenwood DDX7015 quick question
Hey nycazn79
I saw your car images on car domain. Does the kenwood need a separate navi source? or is it built in like the eclipse and pioneer AV N1? How much did you pay for the complete package and from where?
thank you. Looks really nice and compact. Planning on getting me a system...

Eclipse
Double Din (stereo door can close)
Dual drive in the head unit (CD/DVD and Navi disc at same time)
No seperate hideaway unit (except GPS antenna)
Same wiring as stock
ebay (new) $1700-$2000, msrp about $2700
Usually most expenisve and hard to find, but works great with our car.
Pioneer:
Single-Din Flip out unit (problem with stereo door closing)
Single drive (means you have to upload GPS disc info to the unit and swap with normal CD/DVD
Need seperate hidaway unit and antenna
ebay (new) $1100-$1500, store $1500-$1999
Great unit, but wait for the Pioneer double din to come out in Spring 05
Kenwood:
Double Din (stereo door can close)
Seperate navi unit (size of computer CD-ROM drive)
ebay new: DDX7015 $700 to $900, Navi $599-$699
store new $1500-$2000
I got the unit from ebay and I'm very happy with it.

*EDIT*
I noticed you said it can close, but with force. Possibly whoever did the install did not make the holes further back enough, since the door doesnt close using the stock holes.
Also, another draw back to the DDX7015 is that it only has 2volt preouts. You need a dolby box for it in order to bump up the voltage. The music keg currently cannot upload screensavers to the ddx. I just was just talking with my audio stores kenwood rep and asked the same question. They are working on a way to do so. Currently the keg can carry the files, just not upload them to the ddx. IMO the screen is better on the ddx, kenwood currently has the best navigation also, so I would recommend adding that to it. While it is nice to have everything in one unit such as the eclipse, look how far it sticks out of the dash when installed. Kenwood sits much more flush and looks way better.
