My AVIC takes about 20 seconds to start playing from my iPod. NAV is ready in about another 20 seconds.

my co-worker does audio installs for extra money now and then, and he hes done a few TC's with that same head unite. lucky all we need is the wire adapter for Toyota. other than that the stock brackets bolt up just fine, and i believe we can adjust how far the head unite will sit in the area. all in all should take about 30min - 1hr to install depending on how fast you can splice wire together and remove the need interior pieces.

i'll post a few pic of how it sits and any mod you my need.

cool, i was at a show and this guy was demo'in a Nav system took 5min to boot, i guess it loaded some wired 3d maps and just really slow. but like i said i already have a tom-tom, so i figure i save a few $$ on the head unite since i have Nav. already. plus i have my G1 so if i leave my tom-tom at home, i can figure out where i'm at.

I've got the AVHP-4000DVD (one step older) and the door closes just fine. I would imagine the 4100 should be similar but then again, the D3 takes some work and cutting to get it to close. Wiring is super easy, just like any other deck except for video parking wire (got a switch on mine). The D3 has a toggle built in under the VOID sticker I believe. You can click my avatar and it'll take you to my cardomain page for pics.

To get radio to fit all you have to do is drill new holes in the factory brackets. Also remember you need to pick up the toyoa double din dashkit (basically 2 small black pieces that fill the gaps in) for your install.

for those of you like ack that have already done an install of a DVD HU... how anything special you had to do to hook it up to the stock harness? I have a 2008 tC that has the Premium OEM Pioneer and Im looking to put in a DVD HU myself.

i would check on google, but i would have to guess off the top of my head the wire adapter from wal-mart would work fine. do you have a factory amp?

Any smart harness (bestbuy etc) should work fine for your power sources, ground, and speaker wiring. You'll still need to wire up your E-Brake separately and depending on the unit, find a place to mount the brain. There won't be any PNP harnesses so you'll have to get the adapter for the car and solder/crimp each previously mentioned wire like most other headunits. Beyond that, it all depends if you are using other aux inputs or specialty devices like bluetooth, iPod, or video screens.

Just finished in stalling it, was not hard and the only issue i had was with the door, but i was able to adjust the screws on the stock brackets for the door to work correctly. only thing is i wish i could get the door working better, it like to stick some times.

That's neat but too fancy for me. One more rattle or squeak for me to chase down lol. I do like the concept though.

Anyone else get a horridly high pitched squeak coming from the waterfall/HVAC area when going over rough pavement? It's sooo faint but seriously obnoxious.

i would check the screws in the back, i found that by lossening the scew that controls the locking for the radio door helped keep the door from sticking as much. i would just torque the HVAC and maybe the screws holding the door in place.

I've had all of it apart before when doing my LED swap but it happened both before and after. It sounds like two hard plastic pieces lightly grinding each other away but it's almost "dog whistle" high pitch.

sound like a time for super glue.

i would super glued the two door parts together.

can't tell from the pic but if you dont have the side pieces, you should definitely get them to cover the horrendous gaps on the sides. Makes it a cleaner looking install. As far as your radio door cover, did you drill new holes into the brackets or did you just mount them to the holes that were holding the factory radio? Makes a huge difference.

i plan on getting the dash kit on the next pay check, 430.00 is a lot and leave me eating ramen until payday  .

I need to drill out the brackets, but i plan taking pictures and stuff (need to drill & bits first).
