View Full Version : aem COLD AIR INTAKE when?
datrickster24 02-14-2005, 11:37 PM I know this might get moved, but I just want to know when the aem cold air intake is going to be available to buy and actually HAVE IT installed on your engine. I know there are people who already have it ordered. Does anyone actually have the AEM cold air installed? I know aem is still waiting for their C.A.R.B approval so if anyone could give me ANY information when its actually coming out so i can order it and get it to my house within a few days. Im tired of waiting and want it real bad..any longer and im just gonna go ahead and get my short shifter and interior lights.

Release is still pending, who knows how long it'll take.
adamstc 02-15-2005, 07:59 AM go ahead and order the short shifter, i gave up i have been waiting for it for 7 months now im done, i got my money back then bought the magnaflow exhaust from racingsolutions, and love it, ill get the supercharger or a turbo when they come out in a few months
Somnambulated 02-15-2005, 08:11 AM I went and slapped a TRD filter in my airbox to make the wait smoother. Who knows when the AEM intake will be out, the testing is taking forever.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that both the CAI and Supercharger will become available late this year or early next year.
I can't fault Scion for releasing the tC so early, but they should have accounted for the intense demand for dealer-approved aftermarket parts.
After all, that's what the Scion brand is partially built on.
TheKnown 02-15-2005, 08:15 AM yea we are showboating the hottest tuner car on the market with nothing to tune it with
Spoke to a Scion parts guy yesterday and the intake is ready they're all sitting at the AEM awrehouse in Torrance, but they're having the worst time ever trying to get CARB approval and won't sell the intake without out. Who's with me in raiding the warehouse?!

yellot00tr 02-23-2005, 03:08 AM i called them, here's what they said-takes 1 day for them to get it, they don't accept credit card orders over the phone(what the f is up with that? it's the year 2005 already.) the guy brendan told me to call Tim the manager tomorrow and talk to him.
KYBoy 02-23-2005, 04:10 AM my friend is going to buy my old system so i will be ordering mine in a few days...hehe

ajustice 02-24-2005, 10:07 PM the parts department at my dealer just called me back and said that they expect them out by the end of march. god i hope they are right this time im tired of waiting. i think we should flood scion with e-mails until the give us all something free. not just a tee shirt either, maybe a shift knob or pedal set. something for my damn car.
my e-mail is sent
KYBoy 02-24-2005, 10:10 PM I wonder why my dealer is saying 1 day, i agree w/ you guys that its not out yet, i guess i will find out next week when i order it, then they tell me the next day its not out yet. Then i think they should give it to me for free....lol
Dwnlow1 02-24-2005, 10:19 PM ive heard that aluminum intakes have a bad heatwash problem on the tc..... has anyone else heard that... anyone know of an intake thats made out of a composite?
miraclecreator 02-25-2005, 12:26 AM Ihave a question, I heard that there's a MAJOR DOWNSIDE on the cold air induction systems. Since it's a COLD AIR intake and not a regular intake, it'll be longer so it can be extended to the near bottom of the car and get the colder air thus giving it more HP. BUT! The major downside is that if you come across a puddle or something like that, there's a good chance that the water will get sucked into the engine from the intake since it's so close to the floor and ultimately destroying the engine. So i was told that the only way to prevent this is to put it in Neutral and turn off ur engine, and turn it back on when u have passed the puddle. Can anyone tell me how true this is?
Souljah347 02-25-2005, 04:30 AM the aem CAI has a bypass valve on it, so don't worry about hydrolocking
X_cement_filled_tC_X 02-25-2005, 09:56 PM bypass valves do not always work. especially if you dip into a deep puddle.
X-eric-X
TJCCARDCO 02-26-2005, 06:42 AM 900 times out of 901 the bypass will work.
TJCCARDCO 02-26-2005, 06:43 AM And if the dealer sells it for your car, then they will have to take care of it.
endlessracingz 02-28-2005, 01:29 PM Well I guess if you see a deep puddle *DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH IT*
X_cement_filled_tC_X 03-08-2005, 06:02 PM 900 times out of 901 the bypass will work.
obviously you have never used an AEM intake with a BV in a wet climate then, have you?
