Is it possible to get a already painted oem front bumper from the dealer? Just seeing if it would be cheaper to do that than paying $600 out of pocket for a replacement bumper and paint at a body shop.

Even from the dealer OEM bumpers are only primed. Best bet would be to check local junk yards or online. Or just suck it up and order one. There are some on eBay as well (as "new, primed" ones but I think they're generics - still probably OK, just not an actual OEM part). The01Cav 02-22-2010, 02:39 AM The body shop told me that I had a choice between oem and aftermarket bumpers. It was a $70 difference and I would rather have OEM as I know it fits. I know that $600 isn't a bad price for removal/install and paint. ack154 02-22-2010, 02:44 AM Well the bumper cover itself is about $200 new (MSRP is like $260, that's a TRDSparks price). So ya... I guess that's not an awful price. I would think more like $450 or $500 - but I haven't ever had much body work done. ack154 02-22-2010, 01:27 PM I just ordered this one from ebay for $288.99 shipped and painted to match (I used bing.com cashback and I will get back $17.60). Of course they only ship to the nearest greyhound so you have to go pick it up but there is one close to me so no biggie. I looked at the guys feedback and he has alot of satisfied customers so I figured for less than $300 its an awesome deal. I'll let you know on how it fits once I get it on. Also picked up some vrd grilles so I can pop them on before I even put the new bumper on. Definitely interested to hear how it fits. bikerdude1550 02-22-2010, 03:40 PM Yea I ordered one from them too off ebay Twilight2ner 02-22-2010, 03:45 PM Definitely interested to hear how it fits. It's listed as "OEM direct from Toyota" and he's got 2500+ positive feedback for fitment and color matching. I'm considering picking up a rear bumper there. $450 shipped and painted. Local body shop can get a bumper for $250. I'm assuming it'd be $300+ for paint and clear? bikerdude1550 02-22-2010, 04:01 PM Was the seller theonlinebodyshop. How did it turn out, good i'm guessing since you didn't say anything negative about it. I just ordered it last night its a good price and dupont paint too thats has a lifetime warranty, its suppose to ship within 10 days of order and since I'm in Georgia and he's in North Carolina it should only take a day or two to get here from there so as soon as I get it I'll be putting it on as soon as I can and will give a report Was the seller theonlinebodyshop. Yes it was Twilight2ner 02-22-2010, 04:03 PM Word I called the local body shop and they quoted me ~$600 installed. I went ahead and ordered it since they guarantee their paint and I'd save $150 for a 20 min install job. ack154 02-22-2010, 04:31 PM I actually just got back from a local body shop regarding bumper stuff (quotes). Going to make a new post on it though. As a reference from him, he said just to prep/paint a bumper would be $250 - which I didn't think was too bad. 07specTC 02-22-2010, 06:08 PM Doesn't paint fade over time? Wouldn't it be better to let a local shop color match your existing color, which might not be the same color as the day it rolled off the assembly line? ack154 02-22-2010, 06:12 PM Doesn't paint fade over time? Wouldn't it be better to let a local shop color match your existing color, which might not be the same color as the day it rolled off the assembly line? What most places will do is paint the bumper the actual color and then blend in the parts around it. Some paint fades more than others though - it's hard to really gauge. Wouldn't it be better to let a local shop color match your existing color, which might not be the same color as the day it rolled off the assembly line? Taking it to a shop is always the *best* option but it's also always the most expensive. The $600 I was quoted did not involve any blending whatsoever. That was simply for prepping and painting the bumper cover. Luckily for me, my quarters were repaired less than a year ago, so fade shouldn't be that much of an issue. If it's horribly off I have 2 options: 1) Call this company and tell them the color is off or 2) Learn from my mistake and take it to the shop. After reading through about 1000 reviews, they seem to match the color very well. I'm not expecting it to be perfect, just close enough. This isn't a show car, haha. bikerdude1550 02-23-2010, 11:52 AM Doesn't paint fade over time?
