There is a definition of "rice" out there some where...

Oh wait, you just found it.

No, seriously, you wouldn't be any bigger of a poser than you would with this wrapped on your hood.

someone did it on one of the other scion forums and it bubbled up pretty fast.

That is so Rice...! You'd be adding weight instead of reducing it.

Yea, don't do that.

Do it if it makes you happy.

I had to say it.

Ya, this is obviously personal preference and if someone likes it, more power to them.

I just hope they don't want "mad props" when they show off their CF wrapped hood.

When it comes to carbon fiber, IMO, you either do it right or DON'T DO IT AT ALL! This is the equivalent to spinner hubcaps. Just a cheap imitation.

If you're going to do that, why stop at the hood? Do the whole car.

i only have two comments.

if you're gonna wrap anything to make it look like CF.. that material is the best stuff you can find. as far as the "cheap imitation" comment above.. i've seen the material in person.. and cheaper than real CF it is.. but it certainly isn't a poor quality imitation.

the other comment? don't do the hood... other stuff perhaps.. interior pieces.. etc..
but the hood? eh.. no.

The company says it can be used on the exterior..and they have a special one for it. I've actually read a thread the company started here on SL a few weeks ago.
Personally, I think their stuff would look much better to do CF stuff on the interior. Trim pieces, dash inserts, etc.
The Beemers they had done on their website for the interiors with their high grade version stuff IMHO looked pretty classy and nice.

^^ we posted at the same time.. but yes.. smaller interior pieces would be nicer

but yea.. i've seen a roof wrapped in it.. as well as a hatch/trunk
and lemme tell you.. visual-wise... it looks like CF.. it's textured even too.. and you can even clear-coat the sucker if you wanted..

most times it's hard to even tell if it's fake or not.. 3M did a crazy job making a cheap imitation.. out of VINYL.

great stuff.. but i'm still gonna say no on the hood.

^^ agreed Squal....
I'd have to vote no on the hood too... just my opinion there too.... but to each their own.

in the meantime.. don't dis the material.
it has it's applications. protection as well as looking good for example.

i think cavalierkid wraped his hood in cf

there's a green srt-4 in chicago that did a bunch of cf parts and then wrapped alot of the remaining car in it as well lol

^^ this material is NOT CF..
it's a high quality vinyl that looks like (and feels like) dry CF.

and optionally able to be clearcoated for that real CF look.

its definitely not real for that price if ur going to buy it use it for the interior pieces looks better....cf is expensive but its worth it in the end.

What? No... was agreeing with what you said about using it for the interior.

There are CF mirror covers out there too for our OEM mirrors... but USUALLY the fitment is crap. I don't recall a thread specifically about these recent ones though:

Those MIGHT be OK. I don't know.

I think if you want mirror covers it might be better just to wrap it, that way if someone steals your covers(since its so easily taken off) you wont lose that much and replacing it would be cheaper, just buy another cover of any color and re-wrapping.
