All parts from Randode.com, installed by Randode himself!! http://www.scionapocalypse.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/icon_super.gif

With your particular kit, you got a valve manifold. It still has all the valves needed, just plumbed into a billet aluminum block. Only difference is ease of installation.

I love this Dakota Digital gauge. Ray turned me on to it. Thanks mang!!

I knew Randy did a killer job on the install. For example, in the morning when I got in my car I would turn the air system on but the compressor wouldn't turn on. I didn't lose enough pressure over night for the compressor to turn on. Since I didn't have gauges I didn't know if I lost a little or nothing.

So now that I have my gauge I checked pressure in the morning and I didn't lose 1 psi.

If you are in AZ and are considering air, you need to have Randode do the install.
If you are out of state, make the trip. Trust me you won't be sorry.

The ride is awesome. I've been playing around with the dampening on the struts. My wife has a Lexus and she is very happy with the way the xB rides. I set the fronts at 68 and the rears at 28. Very smooth.

My struts are custom by Randode. They are using a Koni Sport strut cartridges made for the tC. These cartridges have adjustable dampening. I have them set on soft and I haven't tried them stiff yet. Normally air is not for performace driving but it's all about the setup.

Randode also make a more economical air strut using a non-adjustable cartridge.

Going down the highway is real smooth. Even at lower speeds. The strut bags are UA and hold a pretty decent volume of air so that helps the ride.

I'm pretty low while cruising, rear tires are still tucked pretty good.
I will try and take a pic today.

And yes you are right about being off topic on the other thread.

For most of us these are daily drivers.
I did talk to him and you are looking at around $2k.
Keep in mind you get a lot for your $$
For example, not just the struts are custom but you get custom upper strut mounts with uni-balls. 2 compressors and 8 1/2" valves. All quality stuff.

He makes a quality product... I opted for the EasyStreet on mine because I like the control system a lot, but i've seen the Randode setup in person and it's good stuff! You wouldn't feel any regret with the end result and you will be lower all around than the AirLift setup, plus, you can replace your bags inexpensively compared to the EasyStreet... Why are you running 1/2" valves? I am assuming you are running 1/2" line, the inside diameter or 1/2" line is 3/8" so you would have the same speed with 3/8" valves and 1/2" lines, plus fittings valves and airline would have been cheaper and the 3/8" valves are less prone to sticking ( in my experience ). Just curious, the xb looks nice and the install looks great. Assuming you used a pancake tank in the spare tire well?

I'm running 3/8 SMC's with 3/8line. The 5gal tank is inside, below deck. Yes I lost the spare but I have plans for the space left over. Excuse the wiring, I'm in between audio setups.

I also have flow control mufflers on the dumps.
http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/116/gfx/small/9834k34p1s.gif

These not only keep the valves clean but it is easier to adjust the air pressure.

What size ports on the bag? If they are 3/8", switching to 1/2" line would make that suspension MOVE. Is that the standard short stubby 5 gallon tank? It fits and you can still put the foam tray over the top? Really surprised to see a 5 gallon tank in there, I'm trying to find a spot to mount my 5 gallon SS tank for my train horns but I really don't want to ditch the spare tire

Pick up one of the AVS 5-gal aluminium tanks.

They fit under the xB2 with pleanty of clearence.

07-26-2010, 09:38 PM
No reason to run 1/2" valves... If I were to run air on my xB, largest I'd run are 3/8" and I'd have the same dump controls as RMS.

Get rid of the spare. My spare's been gone for about 2 years. You have TPMS sensors. If a tire gets low, the light will turn on, therefore you should check your air pressures. If the tire keeps leaking, get it checked out. Spare tire is obsolete.

Greg S

Spare tire is obsolete.

Not completely. I wish I'd had a spare with my last car, 06 MINI Cooper S. Car had run flats so no need for a spare, right? Unless you happen to turn a corner and hit a 1/2" bolt right on the edge of the tread. Tire went flat immediately and was undrivable so I had to get towed to the tire shop. Spare would have made it easier and less expensive to take care of.

Trust me I don't. BMW made some design flaws with the 1st gen and didn't bother fixing them since they were going to change the design in 07. We sold it after just under two years and bought the xB as it's replacement.

nice clean set up!! and slams on UAS bags.. way way better than easy Street.. I can tell you guys allabout the design flaws on the easy street if yu want to know.. but not here..

Awsome job! thinking if i should redo the first bagged gen 2 XB front struts with Randodes set up.. My UAS bags havent failed on me in more than 3 years! I know they wont last forever so maybe its time for some normal maintainace for wear and tear.

Thanks guys. I have really put these struts to the test. I love the way the UA bags ride and the Randode struts are solid. I couldn't be happier with the install also.
