View Full Version : 215 x 40 x 18 be okay?
dinkjs 02-02-2004, 04:50 AM I was reading in another thread where someone directed the guy to this spot on the website that gave recommendations on tire sizes for different size rims
For a 18 x 7.5 with a 42 offset
Would I run into slight rubbing problems with running a 40 series tired instead of a 35 series...heck I would love a 45 if its feasible
HotBox 02-02-2004, 04:57 AM not sure about the offset on my rims but i have the 215/40 and theres a slight little rub on the front left tire only when making a full turn tho eother then that no prob
dinkjs 02-02-2004, 05:05 AM What about road noise on the 40 series? Still a quiet tire?
HotBox 02-02-2004, 05:36 AM yeah it quiet except for certain road that are really coarse but most of the time i cant here it since i have the radio on i wanted to go with 225/40s but it would have rubbed on the suspension components and it was also like i believe he said like 2 inches bigger so my odom would have been off so we opted for the 215/40
CubiXBb 02-02-2004, 06:29 AM Hotbox, what type of suspension set up do you have? I have some Eibach springs, and was thinking about using 215/40/18 all around. Have you noticed anything else with that tire setup you have? Also, do you have pics? Thanks :)
HotBox 02-02-2004, 10:31 AM i have a stock suspension i havent started to modify that yet which i was supposed to do first but didnt the pics are here http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4558&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
notice anything else like what ?
JDMxB 02-04-2004, 04:43 PM I'd like to know if 215/40/18's would work on a 2 inch drop...most likely not, but I want to know for sure.
I need new tires, and am shopping so this is greatly appreciated...
Will 215/40/18's work on a xB dropped 2 inches???
THANKS!!!
HotBox 02-04-2004, 04:50 PM well asoon as i get some more suspension parts either springs or coilovers i will let yall know but im not sure when thatll be im sure it would but not certain
CubiXBb 02-04-2004, 04:51 PM Hotbox I tried checking your last post for the pics, but they're coming up as red x's
bBted 02-04-2004, 04:57 PM 215-40-18 should be fine...as i remember its the closest diameter to stock...
most people running 215-35-18...cuz its more popular size and cheaper tires..
scionara is running 225/40/18 with 2in drop...no problem
scionara 02-04-2004, 05:03 PM 215-40-18 should be fine...as i remember its the closest diameter to stock...

225.40.18 in the back is fine but I suggest to go 215.40.18s in the front or 215.35.18s.
randode 02-04-2004, 05:09 PM 225/40/18 or 215/40/18 should both be fine. You may have a problem though since your wheels are such a high offset. A spacer might fix it though.
HotBox 02-04-2004, 05:30 PM Hotbox I tried checking your last post for the pics, but they're coming up as red x's
try refreshing they work on my laptop but onmy main comp some also come out as red xs also try refreshing or using another comp thats all i can tell yah if still no then ill post them again or something
Woodys05 04-20-2005, 10:58 PM So what is the factory ofset for 18" TRD Racing Hart rims? And will the 215-40-18s rub with Gold line springs?
D2AUTOSPORT 04-20-2005, 11:46 PM 215/40/18 Won't be a problem at all, what wheels are you getting?
Woodys05 04-20-2005, 11:50 PM 215/40/18 Won't be a problem at all, what wheels are you getting?
If you talking to me I have the 18" TRD Racing Hart rims. If you weren't sorry but what do you think? Would they rub if I put 215-40-18s on? Thanks man, Woody.
D2AUTOSPORT 04-21-2005, 12:16 AM No I was speaking to the post starter.
scion619 04-21-2005, 04:47 PM Hey there i have done a lot of research on this topic. im running 215/40 series tire with 18x7.5 with 42 offset and i have had no rubbing issues at all. They almost ride like stock. AS for goldlines i have them but haven't installed them yet.... but I did ask several peeps with this set up of tires and springs and they said they have no rubbing issues at all.
