Anyone put rims on their tC with a +40 offset? I know they will fit but I want to know if they will hang out to far from the wheel well. I'm also concerned with the possibility they might rub if I put on springs... Anyone?

VW2SCION 02-16-2005, 08:38 PM just got my rims yesterday... 18x8 with a 1 1/2 inch lip let you kno this weekend... i don't think it will stick out since the stocks are 45mm offset aren't they? and there is a pretty big overhang of the fenders hal9000 02-16-2005, 09:26 PM looking forward to how yours comes out since mine have a 1 1/4 lip...so they should look similar..do you have the Tein or TRD springs on right now? johnny 02-17-2005, 12:05 AM I've got 18x7.5 with a 35mm offset. 225/40/18 tires & tein s-techs. I've rolled the front fenders up some and they still rub a little. 40mm offset should be good, maybe 215/40 or 215/35 tires if you want to be safe. I've got a picture in my gallery if you want to see what it looks like. English 02-18-2005, 07:15 AM Ok back to the topic, how wide do you plan on having the wheels? As long as the wheels are not wider than 8" you should be fine with no rubs, I would recommend 7.5" wide with 235/40 tires...sound good to anyone else? jrv2000 02-18-2005, 07:21 AM with the stock rims on, how big of a spacer do you guys think i could put on it so that they are flush with the fender? TheKnown 02-18-2005, 07:22 AM should be ok with anything less that a 2" drop with 18" anything more than that drop or 19" rims i would expect some kind of rubbing maybe not on turns but rubbing mredz 02-18-2005, 02:58 PM Honestly if I go to an 18" wheel I'm probably going to shoot for a 225/45/18 tire then just have the speedometer recalibrated. I ran 205/40/17s on my old protege5 and the michigan pothole infested roads reminded me often that it wasnt a smart idea... soldiercontreras 02-18-2005, 06:05 PM I have 40+ offset: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/255000-255999/255200_135.jpg BigKid 02-18-2005, 07:23 PM I'm running 19x8.0's with a +40 offset in the rear. The lips close to 3" deep. Its also been lowered with S-Techs, and I have had no problems thus far. Great ride, considering that I'm rolling on 215/35-19's. :nails: Chek my profile for pics. |
