View Full Version : Greddy and TRD turbo
KingLou 02-16-2005, 06:19 AM Ok......something has been bothering me.
I have seen the Greddy and TRD turbo chargers for the JDM bB. My question is....have people in Japan had problems with rods/connecting pins snapping on their turbo bBs??? Are there even many turbo bBs in Japan?

unlmtdndeavor 02-16-2005, 09:35 AM i would also like to know if anyone has feedback on this
bB384 02-16-2005, 10:09 AM They don't loose rods because they boost only 6 or 7 psi. You can boost these engines by that much, after that only will you bend/break rods. Note: At 7 PSI you only get a 50% gain over stock hp, so they're happy with 160 Hp at the flywheel.
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 11:38 AM If only 160 at the fly was as good as 160 to the wheels.
firesquare 02-16-2005, 01:13 PM yeah really. but the light weight will make it lots more fun :-O
KingLou 02-16-2005, 05:52 PM I'd take 160 at the flywheel for the time being.

quadoptix 02-16-2005, 07:30 PM the japanese cars dont have a problem..neither has the US cars they fitted the kits with...the long holdup w/ greddy is carb approval and theres a quirk in the ecu everyones having problems w/. so they dont want to release a kit until the problem has been solved completely. greddys name is built on reliablity, and they dont want to hurt that name.
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 07:31 PM Are there even many turbo bBs in Japan?

Yes and no , Unlike over here no one is turboing them for power they turbo them for show status , kinda like we do here but....that is their only real reason to do it.
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 07:32 PM oh also the ecu tuning package w/ the jap setup for say trd is for an auto..so its tuned differently etc etc etc...the p[hysical kit is almost the same as whats gonna be offered here in the US, but its all bout smog legalities and greddy and trd usa want to have it legal.
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 08:30 PM So is or isnt greddy makin a us kit? I hear it changing from yes to no and back to yes every week. TRD is makin one too now? hmm. I'm still debating as to if the 1nz is worth my time and money.
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 08:38 PM greddy is working on it..i dont knwo bout trd. thing is greddys progress is real slow w/ the kit.,...i have no idea why...well my guess is cause they have other projects that have more aftermarket attention and focus..the scion xa xb thing is kinda a backburner deal
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 08:55 PM greddy is working on it..i dont knwo bout trd. thing is greddys progress is real slow w/ the kit.,...i have no idea why...well my guess is cause they have other projects that have more aftermarket attention and focus..the scion xa xb thing is kinda a backburner dealwhat would your best guess be for a kit without intercooler? ( i have a hook-up on intercoolers and dont need an overpriced greddy one.)
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 10:00 PM hahaha dont know didnt ask..actually the greddy ic setup is very affordable and the quality on it is real nice too
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 10:35 PM Yeah but I can get an identical sized intercooler for say.... $90.00 so....
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 10:38 PM w/ endtanks? full mandrel bent piping polished?
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 10:53 PM not polished but yes endtanks and mandrel
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 11:12 PM ic..all for 90?
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 11:29 PM yeppers . about 90. gotta check on the exact size but 90 was for a slim 2.5.
quadoptix 02-16-2005, 11:42 PM wow piping core and endtanks all for 90 bucks is a steal.
firesquare 02-17-2005, 12:54 AM yeah it is!! :-0
