Sciontuner 02-02-2004, 03:59 PM Guess what i get for my new black Scion Guys?! a new 5k paint job. some punk at my highschool decided to key every panel of my car, cept the roof (he couldnt reach) and the front left fender, and my school got it ALL on video tape the 3 different times he did it, so im going to court with some highly modified prices on what it will cost to fix it. what color do you guys think i should get for my baby? :D well hit me up later
Owner of XB since 3 days after release
Munch 02-02-2004, 04:03 PM If it's on tape then you got it made. If you're changing the color. Do something that hasn't been done yet :) Good luck in court.
Pablo_xB 02-02-2004, 04:14 PM 8) Be the first with a Phantom Grey Pearl xB!!! :P
hahajoey 02-02-2004, 04:16 PM take it back to the dealer and milk him for the price.
dealers charge a ____load but they do awesome work!
try to get a rental car for the duration of the paintjob,
and have him pay for it...
Pablo_xB 02-02-2004, 04:22 PM Also, aside form getting him to pay for the paintjob, I think you should press charges if you can. Get him to PAY PAY PAY
Cameron 02-02-2004, 04:23 PM http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/scripts/depot.exe?pgm=aclgate.bbx
for some ideas on color.
Mazda - Vivid Blue Mist, or Canyon Copper Metallic
Honda - Indy Yellow, or Sunbaked Gold Pearl
JDMxB 02-02-2004, 04:25 PM Paint it Phoenix Yellow and slap some Type R stickers on it--then you could get a Scion xB Type R from that dumbass kid!!!
HotBox 02-02-2004, 04:28 PM take it back to the dealer and milk him for the price.

hell yeah i agree do that shyt take it back to the dealer and make sure they overchange like they would love to do
Workbox 02-02-2004, 06:12 PM I would make him sand it, all by hand, while some body shop guy that just got out prison was watching with M. J. eyes. Jeoulsy, one of the deadly horsemen.
showpaojoe 02-02-2004, 06:18 PM the dealership paint jobs are like 12k, get that much
Sciontuner 02-02-2004, 08:27 PM not only do i have it on tape but i have witnesses too, i was hoping i could slip in a carbon fiber hood instead of respraying my old hood, this kid did a killer job on my car i can post some pics later. so you think i should go with a yellow or orange? whats flashy enough to catch eyes but not police eyes, cause i dont drive like a granny
Cameron 02-02-2004, 08:49 PM Ohhh yaaa. Look up 2001 Toyota paint chips on that site I posted earlier. There's like 10 pages of different colors including the Lexus line :D
Score a dealer paint job, just be sure the color that you goes well with your new carbon fiber hood. :D

Sciontuner 02-02-2004, 08:54 PM anyone in here painter that could give me a quote on my car in laguna seca blue?
Mr_scion 02-02-2004, 08:56 PM good luck in court milk it for everthing it is worth
Cheif_Thundercloud 02-02-2004, 08:57 PM Dont shop arround...go to the best painters in your area cuz that kids payin for it. Price dont matter. Just pick the color.
Sciontuner 02-02-2004, 09:17 PM well i want to get a price for it so that way i have something to ange myself for in court. this fecker is goin down tho. my promises, ill scan the papers of what i r@ped him for. dirty punk did it before i even made my first payment. 12 individual scratches on my hood alone.
showpaojoe 02-02-2004, 09:23 PM all depends, are you just gunna do the outside? if so, 4k would get you a nice paint job with some candy color inside and a nice amount of clear. if your gunna change the color and then spray the inside as well, like the door jams, the trunk lid, etc...then you'd probably like to go for 7k or more if you wanna do the engine bay and this includes stripping the car completely. That's y I said 12k for a dealership paint job cuz they'll go all out
Scionic 02-02-2004, 09:28 PM Thank goodness for video cameras. Milk him for everything and then after this incident is long and forgotten go get some of your friends and jump his ___ too
Payback is a _____ if done right and they thought it was over and done with.

on the factory paint right like where its kind of waving if this is what youre talking about yeah i notice it too and im thinking about a paint job
joe_scion 02-03-2004, 02:44 AM It seems you should be able to sue him for more than just a new paint job. I dont know the terms but something like distress, etc. It wasnt an accident it was deliberate. Talk to a lawyer and see what he can do. I'm not one normally for suing but I hope you take it out hard on his bank account.
bBted 02-03-2004, 03:13 AM get the 04 TSX titanium...whatever they call it...looks real nice 8)
pmpnxb 02-03-2004, 03:24 AM God that sucks... Someone keyed the hell out of my truck once and I claimed insurance, got 4k for a new paint job... Personally, I would go with House of Kolors sunset pearl shimmery, and or Tangelo pearl shimmery.. tangelo is similar to the new hot lava box.. but sunset is the sickest yellow you will ever see... jus my .02
SCI_FIRE 02-03-2004, 05:18 AM Scionic, instead of kickin' his ___, maybe he should be thankin' the idiot for doing it on camera. This way he gets a paint job of his dreams. But autobotxxtonyxx is right - if the car stands out too much, next time it happens it might not be on camera or in front of witnesses. :? Havin' enemies sux.
rampagesd 02-03-2004, 05:26 AM if i had a choice of paint color i'd do PPG candy cobalt blue... it's gonna run you around 4g's or more for a good paint job from someone that knows what they're doing... if you wanna make him go broke get a resin paint job... if anyone is into lowriders you should know what i'm talkin about... you can see that sh!t miles away...
EcksBee 02-03-2004, 07:54 AM I'm sure you'll win, but honestly how much can a kid from high school give you? Hopefully his parents are filthy rich or atleast own a home, you can get them to take out an equity loan.. But if he's a poor ___ kid and his parents are broke, you won't get anything. Maybe you can get the highschool to pay for your paint job since he's done this like 2 other times..
rbloedow 02-03-2004, 01:26 PM if you can post the video i wanna see this shyt man how can people do shyt like this honestly man its sooo stupid ____es me off cause people hate cause you have better shyt then them and they complain and all that but if they worked their ___ off they would have the same stuff or even better some people just dont want other people to be on top they just gota keep trying to kick them down i have tried my best not to hate but alwaze congradulate yes i have hated it happens even one has or will sooner or later ive had my opinions but damn i never went that extreme going and messing up what they have one time this guy burned me on an engine and i was with my brother and family friend at a car show in houston and they notice his car and they were like come on lets go break his windows but to me it wasnt worth it what was done was done yeah i was ____ed but damn id never go and do something like that
Jesus, that's one long ___ run-on sentence!!!! Here's a period: .
Djuan 02-03-2004, 03:16 PM that would kick ___ to get the highest quote, get the money, then go get a good paint job, and spend the excess cash on mods...
dickpeter 02-03-2004, 03:22 PM Not to burst your bubble.
But, good luck on getting your money when you go to court.
How old was the guy again? 17.
He is not resposable for your damages. His parent will have to fit the bill.
More than likely his parents insurance will get involved.
Once they do there goes your 12K paint job.
Have you called your insurance about this?
I would let them deal with it.
Sciontuner 02-03-2004, 03:32 PM yea, his parents have insurance, i know im gonna get him, all i REALLY want is my xb back stock, but hey if i can get a full new paint, i wont cry......so ill see what i can get off him....ill keep yall informed. by the way are any scion teams recruiting or whatever? PM me
dickpeter 02-03-2004, 04:08 PM Are you going to sue him for personal damages?
You might be able to get something for that.
The only thing I would say about that would be even if he wins he still dosn't have to pay. Good luck getting your money.
And just so you know no car ever looks the same after it gets repainted.
Unless they strip the car done to bare metal and rebuild it from scratch.

Why do you keep saying he's not gonna get money? The court will make him pay, right?

Fine find a place with no video cameras and kick his ___. After that jump in your newly painted xB and thank him as you roll away :D
Djuan 02-03-2004, 04:18 PM he's gonna get money, that bullet is too hard to dodge. It's on camera and they have insurance, so its just a matter of time.
So in the meantime go take some mixed martial arts classes... http://www.scionlife.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
dickpeter 02-03-2004, 04:49 PM How are you going to get money from somebody who dosn't have it?
Do you think this kid has a ton of money just laying around?
Just because you win dosn't mean he has the money to pay you.

If he wins, the guy will have to pay him. If he doesn't have the money, he'll be forced to take out a loan, etc, etc, etc. He will get his money.
Since the kid was a minor, his parents will fot the bill because legally they are resposible for his actions. I would press charges for vandalism also, so the kid will end up paying a community fine or doing community service also.

Data...uhm I mean rbloedow.......you are so logical.
Yup if you can't go after the problem child then go after the parents.

Hmmm, his parents have insurance that covers their child when he is both: (1) not in a vehicle and (2) committing a criminal act? That's a new one on me!
Good luck on this, but I've a feeling that it isn't a sure thing unless mommie and daddie are willing to pay the $$$ to prevent you from pressing criminal charges.
George
Djuan 02-03-2004, 06:05 PM oh yeah I almost overlooked the obvious... criminal charges... that would be funny if he went to Juvinile Hall for that, in there they'd love him in a special way... http://www.scionlife.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif
sounds like a good case, I hope they pay you for everything. And maybe a manifold back system! :D Maybe an axel back from www.precisionmuffler.com heehee.
(yet another shameless plug for wwwprecisionmuffler.com)

Liability insurance that covers criminal acts by family members? Possibly, but it's a real long stretch. I wouldn't bet the farm (or paint job) on it unless I was very sure the money will be there.
George
SCI_FIRE 02-04-2004, 02:18 AM I looked it up on MetLife:
"Personal Liability, included with your home insurance policy, protects you and relatives who are part of your household if you're legally liable for injuries to other people either on or off your property, or if you cause damage to anyone else's property. We will also pay the costs to defend lawsuits brought against you. You can typically choose from a range of limits beginning with $50,000.
· Medical Payments to others cover a person outside of your household if injured by you, or if they get hurt on your property. It pays reasonable medical expenses, regardless of fault, up to $1,000 for each insured person. This limit can be increased.
Your policy also provides these additional coverages:
· Defense costs if you are sued.
· Payments for first aid to others provided at the scene of an accident.
· Payment up to $500 for damage to property of others caused by you (For example, if your child hits a baseball through your neighbor's window).
· Payments, usually up to $1,000, for Loss Assessments you incur as a result of your membership in a property association. (You can buy more coverage for this by purchasing an Increased Loss Assessment coverage)."
I guess it would be up to the parents as to whether or not they wanted to notify their insurance.
allblackxb 02-04-2004, 02:22 AM If it was me i would paint it Gloss black, not metallic black like stock is. Or Really Dark Grey.
Djuan 02-04-2004, 07:28 AM or you can get really weird and try Flat black...

That's the sales brochure.
With the policy you buy there is usually a page (or several pages) of fine print titled "Exclusions". It is very likely that "liability incurred during the commission of criminal acts." is fairly high in that list.
George
aznr1c3bo1 02-05-2004, 12:23 AM wow what highschool do you go too? my hs doesnt have any video cameras...must be a nice hs.
scionspecialistvegas 02-05-2004, 12:56 AM I still think there is an asswhooping somewhere for that kid. Starting at home then take a number. that would teach him.
sapdawg11 02-05-2004, 01:06 AM i hate idiots that do this crap, HOWEVER, don't get greedy!!!!! yes he's paying for it, but go into a court with some ridiculous paint job prices and that judge is going to reem you and give you a ____ poor settlement. GUARANTEED!!! you think judges have no clue how much a paintjob is worth?? they've seen hundreds of this same exact situation. yes it does suck, ive had it happen to me. if i was you, i would get 3 dealership quotes since he scratched factory paint. explain to the judge that you would like to keep the paintjob factory as the resale value of a car depreciates with aftermarket paint (trade-in value always goes down with aftermarket paint, they don't care what it looks like, they just check the little box that says "aftermarket paint"). He'll understand that. then by your right you can take it wherever you want. you don't even have to paint it then, you can just keep the money, its 100% your right to do that.
Scionic 02-05-2004, 01:10 AM I still think there is an asswhooping somewhere for that kid. Starting at home then take a number. that would teach him.
see at least someone agrees with me.
lol.....yeah krylon that box flat black and then pocket the money!!
DeanCouchey 02-05-2004, 05:05 AM Just a quick note on the whole not getting your money part, you will get your money, atleast in Ny I know you will, might take about 10 years but if you cant pay your bills or your back debts and settlements they will garnish your wages upto 10%. So if he doesnt pay now when ever he gets a job he has to report it and they will take the money out of his check!
Djuan 02-05-2004, 02:51 PM somehow I doubt you'll see a court room too much evidence, they'll probably settle quick to get out of it, whatever the insurance deems appropriate. I'm interested in discussing this case with my law professor.
Then you could go get some artists to do a whole art installation piece on your car, and paint it a zillion colors...
or you can get really weird and try Flat black...
ya just like jessie james and his low rider!!!!
