I'm looking to smooth out the ride while getting a nice stance. Any suggestions?
I like coil overs because of the shortened dampers and high adjustability.
I like springs because of their price
I plan on keeping them for a long time and a quality product (ie rusted threads would really suck) is really important.
right now, I'm looking at:
Blitz Wagon Dampers W's
TANABE PRO S-0C's (does the helper spring make a difference?)

my friend was planning on getting the tanabe's..
he thought the helper spring would be great!
i think if you drop the cash for full suspension, u'll
never have a complaint again! tein's go for less than 1000
and so does tanabe.. the tanabe has more adjustability than
tein does i believe... but i could be wrong.

Those all look like coilovers to me... 8)
Anyway--out of the choices you listed, I would definately stay away from the Tein BASIC series--as I am about 85% sure that they are not teflon coated. What this means is that when the weather gets cold out in VA--salt and rust may be a potential problem down the road.
The Tanabe's I have not had personal experience with, nor have I heard anything from anyone about just yet. I would however would go and and spend the extra $ on the version with the helper spring. The helper spring helps keep a consistant ride feel, throughout the entire adjustability range on the coilover. Without them, if you were lowered 2.5 inches vs 1.0 inches you would definately feel a difference as far as ride is concerned.
I've asked the forum for help on the specs on the Blitz Wagon Damper W's--but I didn't get any respones at all, probably because it's hard to zero in on specs for this particular coilover.
If you intend to buy today--I would go 1. Tanabe w/helper spring 2. Blitz W's 3. Teins.
If you can hold off until you find the details on the Blitz--decide between Tanabe/Blitz.

yeah I didn't list springs because there are so many!
I'm thinking I'll go with the tanabe. It makes more sense to do the whole suspension than stick the stock dampers with different springs.

OR yu kud just do aftermarket damper with after market springs. THAT makes sense.

depends on what u need...and your budget...
if u have money, coilovers is the way to go...

It would seem that the Ground Control style of product would be a nice "compromise": adjustability of coilovers without the price.
HOWEVER, even though other posters here on Scion Life have said that G-C has these available for Scion, I don't find them on the G-C website [/url]http://www.ground-control.com/[url], nor can I find any supplier that carries them.
Any help out there on finding this product?

xA or B????.....I have the Tein's.....seems like the coil over setup would be better but In reality if you really want smooth than you probably bought the wrong vehice....atleast with my scion I have had the Goldlines and then switched to a coil over setup and though I'm still trying to dial it in I feel that the sportiness of the suspension is a fact. in other words, the if you want a mercedes ride than buy a mercedes, not a scion.

on stock springs I thought the ride was great but the handling in my xA was definitely not near stiff enough, with the progressive Eibach Pro Kit I've gotten a good compromise but now I'm not too happy with the ride height, so I may be going even lower, and from what I hear coilovers just seem the way to go..
taking into consideration the weather, snow and salt thing maybe the teflon consideration may be a big one..
