Xa Safety Issue: electrical & brakes !?!?!?
Ok, I haven't been on here in a long time, but I just bought an Xa after selling my Tc a few months back.
It is in the shop right now because a few times when I brake the electronics flicker, and TWICE now when I brake the electronics completly cut out: radio lights etc, and the engine died. WHILE I WAS DRIVING!
The cars brakes still work and the wheel can still steer of course but unless I turn the key, while moving with the clutch in, the engine remains dead and I will just roll to a stop.
Has anyone else had this issue or have any idea what it could be?
I know there has been a ton of bad press around all the recalls and all, I don't think this is related but I just wanted to know because:
1) IF my mechanic can figure out what the hell is causing this problem It will be expensive, I can almost bet on it, and
2) I don't want anyone else to be in the same situation and it cause an accident.
discuss!!

From winter driving a year ago I noticed that when the ABS brakes kick in it draws a lot of power and my headlights dimmed in my xB so you may want to check the battery connections going to the braking system and the main battery terminals.
for this to be an xa safety issue it has to be acrossed the board.
thanks for the concern but other people need to have this issue on a
consistent basis, or else its just a problem with your car.
i didn't try to pull this when my fuel pump went out. and just because toyota
has had some issues with their parts suppliers making bad parts doesn't mean
that because "your" alternator or battery isn't working that you can cause
shenanigans and try to make your own "safety recall bulletin".
i used to have a ford escort that did this. the battery terminal was faulty.

it probably isn't your brake system directly, most likely there is a loose electrical contact somewhere, though it's wierd that the whole system would go at once unless it's right at the battery / main power wire.
Have you done anything aftermarket (stereo, amp, etc?)
I had an issue in my xB after putting on a supercharger where it would randomly have the engine die on me. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found it turned out to be a loose EFI fuse in the engine bay fuse panel. The clips holding it were not tight so when it came loose, it cut power to my fuel injectors, had nothing to do with the supercharger. When you apply the brakes that may just cause a fuse to shift. Start the car, and wiggle your finger on every fuse in the engine bay panel (you will not get shocked, they are insulated so it is safe). If your engine cuts on one of them, it's loose. There's a big honkin fuseable link block for the main feeds, the connector on the back of it may also be not tight, it has six pins and should be somewhat big.
