Default Has anybody done an 06-07+ engine swap?

I feel semi stupid for asking these questions, but besides the oil squirts and some compression changes is there anything that I should know before I start buying the rest of my parts?

Like,

When I buy an ECU, does it need to be an 07+ harness or do I stick with an 06?

For the turbo set-up should I be going for 07+?

Are there any differences in threads for say something like the water pump? Same bolt pattern, size etc?

Thanks for the help

I could be wrong, but all the hardware should bolt up to an '06-'07 without any differences except for the MAF. That is easily fixed with an MAF adapter for the '07+ MAF. I think the ECU has to match the year of engine also, not sure about the harness.

I just finished doing an engine swap recently. My car is an 06' and I swapped an 08 in. Everything will bolt into ur car, with the exception of the harness. U will have to reuse ur old engine harness to be able to plug into the ecu. Don't get me wrong, all the connectors in the engine bay are the same except the MAF, but there are 3 connectors in the 06 harness that need to be plug to computer and 1 to some connector next to it and there are only 2 in the 07' up harness that go to the computer and 1 to a connector next to it.

There are other extra connectors taped to the harness, but u don't use those. Another thing that I noticed is that on newer engines there is an intake manifold connection that goes into the throttle body assembly, while in 06' there is none. Now the connection in the throttle body is still there, just that Toyota left it venting to the atmosphere through a hose with a little box filter looking thing. I personally used the hose that was on the 08' manifold and hook it up to the throttle assy and got rid of the hose and box that was there.

Any other questions just let me know.
