Default How much is my car worth?

first off, im hoping i dont get flamed for this but im thinking of selling my TC.
I really like the car, ive tinted the windows and trd installed lowering springs,
and also put in a short shifter, its nice.
but my first 2 vehicles were jeep cherokees and im really missing one now.
was thinking of getting a wrangler, I think id really like it.

was just wondering what you guys think i could get for it? with the few things ive done to it, plus it has the $1000 warranty on it, dont know exactly how much i have left to pay off on it, probably 15 - $16k. id be really happy if i could just get what i have left to pay off, and incase anyone was interested i live in manassas, va.

i dont wanna get rid of it if im just going to lose alot of money but i think id be alot happier with a jeep again. but now i can say i tried the car route. =P

You usually depreciation in the first 3 years...so that just an FYI.

Depends - how hard is it to get a tC in your area? how many miles are on it? Any other extras? Dimming Mirror, XM, etc? If the buyer is someone who is into modifications, they might like the springs and other goodies, otherwise they may assume you race on the wknds and be scared of how you've treated it (fair or unfair). Do you still have the stock components if the buyer that is considering wants it back the way it was?

Seeing that the car walkout is usually somewhere around 17.5k you might be able to sell it IMO for 15K - for about a grand or so more you can get it new. I think if you buy a used car, you still have to pay tax on it so the buyer will be thinking hmmm 15k plus another 1k in tax - they might see that they'll get a decent deal and do it.

Whatever you do, Good Luck

One way or another, i think you gonna lose some money. even if it has only 3000 miles on it, it's still a used car.

Plus, a buyer doesn't want to pay for your interest rate, or pay for your sales tax thats including in your loan. So if you didn't put much or any down. You have to wait, or else you have to pony up some money to get out of it now.

And then, for the money you'd want for the car, biggest problem you'll face is... Buyer can buy a new one. and from what I've read on here, most like to do their own mods with new parts n stuff.

Good luck to ya !

Depending how much you put down, I would say that there are buyers willing to take over your payments. A bonus would be that when it comes time for the buyer to pay taxes, you can say it was a gift. Depending on what the law says in your state, the buyer may only be subject to a portion of the appraised value, rather then the total sales price. Research it, and keep it in mind!

well i put 2000 down on it, so that pretty much covers the interest on the loan i got.
its at 9000 miles now, it also has the 6 disc cd changer, which i think is the nicest thing ive had in a vehicle so far =P

If you had teh GAP insurance you can just got to the jeep dealer and trade in and the GAP is going ot cover whatever the rest of the money that u might end up paying off on the jeep's loan.

gap insurance covers trade-ins? i find that really hard to believe...gap insurance is for if you total the car, they pay you what you owe, not what the car is worth. i can't picture them covering kids who change their mind who just want to trade in for something different. however, Jeep might work with you on the trade-in and add it to the loan you are getting from them...you'll lose your ___ on the trade, but you won't have to come up with any money NOW.

As a general rule, the more mods you do to the car, the less the car is worth from a retail perspective. You might find someone who appreciates the mods you have done but like others have mentioned, people worry that if you have done mods to a car, then you drive the car hard (maybe that's not fair, but its the way it is). I know from a dealer's perspective, when someone wants to trade in a car with mods, it makes the car worth a lot less, not more. From my expiriance, I'd expect about 13k for the car by normal standards, but like I said, if you find someone who likes what you've done to the car, you might get a little closer to 15k. I would prepare myself, however, to have to put at least a little of my own $$$ down to pay off the whole car because odds are you'll still be a bit upside down

GAP does not cover trade-ins. Never heard or such a thing. I don't know why a car dealership would tell you that. Not even on a lease. With Toyota's residual based financing Toyota guarantees the value of the car because of the buying program. The only thing GAP is good for is covering the difference between market value and what you own in the event of theft, a totaled out car due to a wreck, or a natural disaster. I don't know why they would lie about it, gap sells itself.

In either case, put your original equipment back on it. If the dealership has it, get it back. You own the OEM equipment you bought as your car. Then sell it on ebay or autotrader. Luckily the Toyota warranty is transferrable so that is a selling plus.

Okay if you people don;t beleive me i'm going to go to the dealer adn make him print me teh GAP policy and scan it for you gusy. If i say so, that mean i can, i;n not goign to lie to you, but again teh GFAP paid my wreck car and if you want i can trade it for a new tC to prove it.

gap will cover your wrecked car. gap will not cover trade-ins, period. how could that possibly make sense that they would cover your trade in? they'd lose their ___, plain and simple.
