I brought my car into Toyota for an oil change this morning and was informed that the technician noticed my water pump was leaking from the gasket. I only have 18,500 miles on the car and it seems weird to have the pump fail this early in the car's life. Thank goodness it's covered under the warranty, but still...weird...

I was wondering why this might happen and if anyone else has experienced this. My tC is a 2007 and the only engine mod I have is the ARC intake.

seen it a few times on the xb2 side. Cant remember how many i have seen but it was at least 4 people that had their water pumps replaced at low miles because in sprayed coolant all over the place.

 

^same one guy recently with a tC had this problem and they replaced it free of charge i think he said i heard with the waterpumps its hit and miss good or bad i guess i got a good one b/c im at 44k no problems

When I had my 07 tc the water pump was leaking before the 5k mile mark. When I went in for my first oil change they told me and fixed it under warrenty

 

Yeah, it's getting fixed under warranty, so I'm happy about that. Just kinda baffled why it happened so soon. lol

 

^^ looks like they have a bad batch here and there with this supplier. Some have to have it replaced early and some go 100k miles and nothing. Just be happy it went under warranty and was replaced! It is weird, but I think it's one of those "acceptable problems per 100" sort of thing. Not cool, but they do that to save money. sad really.

 

Mine's an 05. It went at 45,000. I only noticed because there was crystalized antifreeze and the reservoir was empty. Replaced under warranty. If it goes again however I may be SOL.

Unbelievable that water pump of '08 xD should leak at 52k miles. Funny that when my '03 RAV4 water pump leaked, I thought that should not have happened either. Also somebody that I know, his '03 Highlander's water pump is also leaking. What's up with Toyota quality? Not happy at all.

 

QUESS you haveN'T realized that toyota OUTSOURCES their parts. they do not make water pumps.....

 

Mine went out at like 70-80k. I replaced it myself with one helping hand to get the belt back on. Not a hard job.

 

yea mine went at 65 or so but got it replaced under the warranty.
