Default HP Question

Is it possible to get the tC ove 200hp without using a turbo or super charger? If so what mods would need to be done?

I guess you're talking about 200whp. You're talking close to a 60hp jump, I can be done but not anywhere close to the price of a turbo/supercharger. You're looking at new internals (rods, cams, crank, pistons, etc.), performance head, full custom exhaust from header to tailpipe, performance intake manifold, throttle body, intake

Man that's mucho dinero! But in addition to all that you could throw on a turbo and add an additional 300hp!

possible, yes...
cost effective, no...
if you are going for the total sleeper set up it can be done...
a lot of internal work, a/f tuning, and intenal work...

yes but its more expensive.

for internals, if you beef up 1 part, it will put stress on another part.

for example:
higher compression pistions puts stress on the cylinder, valvetrain, valves, crank, and a little on the rods.

and of course, going NA means rising of compression more than effeict burning of fuel. therefore fillin up with a HIGHER OCTANE = more $$ on gas

whats nice about it, is that you can turn the bottle off when you don't want to use it

First off it's N20.

N20 in the hands of an ameture, with no other mods done to the car, is a good way to learn your engine out and blow it up. Especially with a 100 shot, which would be required to get you close to 200hp.

yea 200hp... but how much torque? I mean a 100 shot of n20 is a crap load of torque in a bottle.

nitrous wise, u only need about 50 shots to get to 200whp, bot 100. but anyways, its pretty bad for ur engine. i dont think Tcs would have a lot of N/A porfucts anyways,

The math isn't as simple as you think. A 50 shot isn't 50hp to the wheels it's a shoddy guess at about 50bhp, which would be around 25hp to wheels considering the way it works. Even if it were 50whp, that'd only take him to 190, not 200. The tC doesn't have 160whp stock... it's more like 140.

I guess my statement about getting more torque with nitrous was completely ignored... btw, i'm pretty sure you don't loose 50% of your hp when it goes to the wheels.

You'd lose about 35% through an auto trans... 25% through a manual trans. A 50 shot still woudln't be enough to push either over the 200whp mark.

i thought it was 15 - 20%? i never claimed to be an expert but 25% seems to be a bit much

The tC's MT has about a 15% loss to the wheels.
