Over the past several months I have noticed brown spots/specs on the back of my car getting bigger and bigger. Now I actually had a piece of paint on the spoiler flake off on my finger. I have one more free oil change coming up this week and I'm going to see what the dealer can do. Is their any certain term used for this kind of a problem?

I know how to take care of my car's finish and I have used Meguiars clay bar kit already yet the spots are still there. The Meguiars kit is fairly soft so I'm going to give Blue Magic a shot and see if that helps first before calling the dealer.

i've noticed what appears to be little rust dots, some clay off, some dont. in my case i think my spoiler is dumping all the dust and road grit it lifts off the ground and dumping on the back hatch area. its filthy all the time, even right after i wash it. i think some of the grit on the road is metallic dust, and when the car's damp or wet everthing sticks and it rusts onto the clearcoat.

On another forum the suggestion of rail dust was mention... and lack luster prep work from the dealer...this is something I might look into.

My brother has a white 98 Honda Accord, and his paint looks exactly like that. Quick question, do you park or live close to an airport? A few semi-reliable sources told my brother those little spots are from jet fuel.

I washed the D today and noticed on the driver's side fender right behind the "bubble" that I'm starting to get those spots, too. It looks like the paint is starting to bubble. I've already got a chip in my paint on the other side of the car that's rusted. I'm so ____ed as the car isn't even 2 years old!

Looks like poor paint prep combined with contaminants from regular daily use.

metal from the brakes of yours and other cars driving around you. it sits on the paint long enough, it will start growing. I did a major anti-rust cleaning on my xB1 a few years ago. i haven't had any issues since. My wifes tC is really bad with that tho. even has it on the front bumper. So I'd say get to claybarin and then spend the resy of the day pickin off the rest. I used a real soft towel and quick detailer to get the rest off. it will come off in time

just take it back to your dealership. my ex girlfriends xA had a bad case of rail dust on the hatch and rear bumper. we took it to the dealership and showed them. they took care of it under warranty.

FWIW -- I tend to get orange spots that look just like rust on the driver's side of my xB2. I've found they're not actually rust and come off with application of TurtleWax Bug & Tar remover (combined with a little elbow grease). Since it's not coming through the paint, I'm unable to criticize the paint prep/application for the occurence.
