Default Sirius plug and play in scion XB????

I have a sirius plug and play(Sanyo CRSR-10) Does anyone know what it would take to get this thing pluged into my stock CD radio. The FM modulator bites and im not sure what kind of adapter would plug into the back of the radio. The dealer is no help, he wants me to take it to them so they can look at it(and charge me). I really dont feel like tearing the dash out to find out. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks ahead of time.

If the Sanyo has RCA out plugs then US Spec makes an adapter that goes between the CD (single disc) radio and the wiring harness. It provides 2 sets of RCA in plugs that are worked through the stock Pioneer radio CD button. They run about 60.00, available from Crutchfield and many others.

This is something I am really debating. I want to get Sirius, but I am on a budget. I also fear taking it to a place that is not familiar with Scions. I took my xB to Car Toys to have a alarm installed, and they totally butchered the deal. So I took it up to my Scion dealership, and I have a decent car alarm that I paid five hundred bucks for, and it is your typical bare bones car alarm.

Seattle radio sucks, so I really want to get Satellite radio, but do not want it to cost me an arm and a leg. Not to ention voiding any kind of warranty.

Well i looked on crutchfield.com and found these two (P-Bus MCD To Aux Input Adapter
Adds AUX input to Pioneer "P" Series changer-controlling receivers • stereo RCA female inputs • 20" cable........OR THIS, A P-Bus MCD To Aux Input Adapter
Converts the IP-BUS output of the Pioneer GEX-FM903XM XM-Satellite tuner into stereo RCA outputs • converts the IP-BUS CD changer port of a Pioneer receiver to RCA input. But the question is now if it will work when i hit the satellite button on the Radio Tuner?

oh yea, the sanyo was like 150.00 with a 50.00 rebate i think, check sirius.com, they always have discounts and stuff. Running the antenna was easy.....ran it behind the glove box and out the change holder in the dash, looks way cool and fits perfect in the space. Plus it comes with interchangable face plates to match the interior of the car.

I've had sirius in my xb for about 2months now. I have the RCA model with the wireless FM modulator. I only have two wires that attach to the cars docking station 1. Power source. 2. antanna. After i hide all the wires and had my subcription set up I just match the freq. on the reciever to match the channel (freq.) set on my stock headunit. My wireless system works really well. I never listen to regular radio and nor do i listen to CD's. The Raw Dog comdy is awsome (jim breuers show rules). I also have the docking station at work and have it hooked up where surrounding coworks and listen in. If you need pics let me know. I'll go out on saturday and take some.

Sounds cool RFX. I would really be into seeing those pictures. How much did that set up cost you?

Did you hook it up yourself?

Reception is good?

Where do you dock it at?

Sorry for all the questions

Its night time now so i'll take some photos tomorrow AM for you guys to see.

The whole setup to get going was $300. $150 for the reciever and docking station. and $150 for first time year subcription

I did hook the system up myself. It only took about 1-1/2hr to run the wires. I set it up really clean an no wire hangin out.

Reception is very good but not excelent. If you drive under some bridges or tunnels you'll drop the signal for like a 1/2 a second.

As for docking it in my car i'll have to let the photos do the talking (soon to come)

I was afraid of ripping the dash apart but man was that easier than i thought. Thanks for everyones input, all is good now in the XB.............

Default Sirius

Well I was going to suggest to wait for the Sirius unit that will work with your current head unit that was announced in January and is now delayed till March but I see I'm too late! Glad it works good. Your setup will probably be more satisfactory as the head end probably would only have 6 presets and not all the other options. I'm re-thinking my choices also based on the expereinces here.

Those pictures really helped.

Nice to see I am not alone in this situation.

Is Scion coming out with a Sirius unit??

I learn more about Scion here, than I did at the dealership. I asked my dealer about the "SAT" button on my factory deck, and he said that wasn't for Sateliete radio, but it was fro MP3's.

Thank Jehova for this site.

This has been a big question of mine too. They tout the stock radio as "XM Satellite ready" but the neither the radio manual or the radio itself discusses "XM" as the brand of satellite you HAVE to use.

This left me wondering if the head unit cold be used as a Sirius Satellite tuner given the right hook-up. Till now no-one has given a solid answer. So are they coming out with a unit that alllows you to use your factory unit as a Sirius tuner? (I heard March? Where will it be available? Cost?)

Of course we all could always go the "separate tuner" route, but I think lots of people want to know if they can use the stock head unit as the satellite tuner as it was designed. Not knocking the folks with separate tuner set-up, but I think the later would be a cleaner, cooler setup.

If you buy the XM for your car, the set up will cost anywhere from 400.00 to 650.00 depending on where you go. You can do it cheaper than they can probably around 300.00, I suggest you do it yourself. And when you have it plugged into your stock head unit it scrolls thru one line at a time where the Sirius unit gives you 6 lines of display so you can see whats playing on other stations. In short the regular head unit is kinda lame for the price. I got the Sanyo CRSR-10 plug and play so i can take it in the house as well, and this thing rocks now that i have the RIGHT connection to the head unit. The PIE TOY03-AUX Auxiliary Input Converter converts the CD Changer port of your factory radio into an auxiliary input. With this converter installed, you can connect any device that has RCA outputs directly to your factory radio without using an FM modulator. The TOY03-AUX works with most 2003-2005 Toyota vehicles that are equipped with a radio that has CD changer controls (See specific application list below). The TOY03-AUX comes equipped with the new, smaller 12-pin mating plug and "Y" harness, making it compatible in vehicles equipped with factory steering wheel controls.

The total set up for the Sirius plug and play and for the toyo3-aux was 250.00 at the most. Ill never listen to regular radio again........I'll have some pics soon.

i agree for the price the sanyo (or even the kenwood) sirius player is a better deal.. plus it has more info.. why pay all that money for the factory sat tuner? save it for some mods!

I agree that it is less expensive and seems foolish to want to use the Stock head unit as the tuner and not go with a portable unit as some of you have done. I just would prefer the clean look and simplicity of using the existing head unit to do all the work. Price isn't really a concern for me as long as it's not over $500.

Sorry, I just don't like the look of all the visible wires and having to mess with a lighter jack all the time. They wear out over time if you plug/unplug everyday. ( I would need to use it for other stuff occassionally) Plus, when you have that lighter jack in, it gets in the way of the cupholders.

Anyone have info on the Sirius kit for our stock head units?
