You could fit a NASCAR V-8 in there for the right price.....

Oh wait.

To be honest I've seen the swap done to an older corolla for example like in this link http://www.phoenixtuning.com/toyota/swaps/mantis.html , but just not a logical swap in our world. Especially when you consider the cost effectiveness of the swap. But if you want to just to say you did...more power to you. I still want to see the end results of that V6 swap into the tC...or at least never seen a final running version of it.

How many tC swaps would be "cost effective" though? Nothing I can think of yet. For the money you'd spend swapping anything into it, you'd be WAY better off just buying a nicer car IMO.

It really depends on your in-house resources. If you can do your own motor mount fabrication, engine harness wiring, and control bits, it can be done for suprisingly cheap, mainly the cost of the donor motor and steel stock. However, I doubt many tC owners already posess the welding, metal fabrication, engine hoist, paint booth, etc. equipment and facilities that would be needed for a proper job. I could see some 40-year old car guy taking this on as a side project, maybe after getting into Scions through a son / daughter / family friend having one.

if you have to pay for labor on this though, yeah, it would be cheaper buying a faster car.

Ya, that makes sense. But like you said, most Scion owners really don't have that kind of access to stuff.

Of course there are still the people who will do it just to do it and don't care about the money... and frankly I'd love to see the results. It just won't ever be a common thing for the tCs (like Hondas, for the obvious example).
