Default Could use some help!!

Well I'm not sure what happened yet because I haven't taken the turbo out yet to see if there is any visible damage without actually taking the turbo apart.
I've been having problems with my car suddenly losing power for a second or so (also feels like loses all boost). It doesnt happen all the time and last night i got on the throttle a little and after i let off i heard a noise from the turbo. It sounds almost like when i was a kid and would put a playing card in the spokes of your bike to make it sound cool. lol....i had to drive it home and it still holds boost for the most part. I plan on taking it off within the next day or so to inspect it.

I just bought the turbo through sound performance and its a precision turbo. Its only been on since october so i still have the year warranty so hopefully what ever is wrong they will cover it.

Thanks

Weird question is your BOV working?
How much boost?

I ask about the BOV and boost b/c too much pressure without a proper blow off could cause the blade in the turbo resistance and wobble. (only thing i can think of)

My BOV does still work. I have a SSQV. When i get it off im gonna check for any damage and if there is any play in the shaft. i hope not . Has anyone ever had similiar problems with a precision turbo and had to send it back? I want to know if they will cover it or at least if its going to cost me some good money to get it fixed.

I know the turbo issue will have to be checked and fixed through precision but to rule out other issues with why my car just loses boost all of a sudden how can i check to make sure my BOV is operating correctly. I have noticed that it has been sounding a lot different when it goes off almost as if i was running more boost because it has been a lot louder and i havent changed my boost.

im thinking just from your discription that may be the problem bkuz it does boost and then lose boost right away and right now it does sound like a supercharger (whine like noise)

if a turbo rebuild is in order i can help you out in that...a way to check is to take the turbo intake pipe off and wiggle the shaft, if it seems to move alot or if you pull up and try to turn the shaft and wont turn or makes a scratching noise then it looks like a rebuilt turbo is in the future.

sig that mike...lmao

btw, good luck with the rebuild, it took Precision four months to rebuild mine last year, they have horrible customer service, you can ask SP about that.

if you're turbo checks out it could be your wastegate.

ok so precision called me and the turbo checked out to be fine. So now to figure out what that noise is coming from and what caused it. So i guess i need to check the BOV and wastegate. What do i look for when testing the BOV and wastegate? How do i check them.

maybe bov not quit holding boost, if its adjustable try tightening to a stiffer setting. boost leak test may help to find out if the bov isnt holding.

Do you have the hks BOV? These bov's are known to leak and cause issues.

Have not read the entire post. But try swapping bov's with a friend.

Also As mentioned check turbo for shaft play! And Boost leak test!

I do have the HKS SSQV and i have been told before about the problems with the BOV. I havent noticed a leak in BOV but ill try swapping it out with another and see what happens. I might just end up buying a new one.

I'm still in a debate of selling or keeping my kit, i dunno. As much of a PITA it is to work on this car, i am also obligated to boost it since i do have a built motor now
