interesting reasoning. sad to see the trade. mine is great in the snow. i'm a father and don't feel my daughter is in any more jeopardy riding in the b than any other vehicle in the weather.

 

I was expecting to see that you were from upstate NY or something.
We don't get so much snow in the mid Atlantic that a trade would be necessary (maybe a handful of snow days out of 365). I'd be more worried about trading from 36mpg to about 17mpg of that Jeep. A good set of snow tires with lowered PSI will do wonders in the snow in most cars.

 

I was also surprised to see the trade when I saw your reasoning. I live in an area where 6ft of snow is normal and have never had an issue with my RS2, xB2, or previous xB. My first xB kept my family and I safe when it was wrecked. I guess good luck then man. Congrats?

 

Well when you get hit with two blizzards in one winter, and your box is parked in the driveway for a week straight becuase you dont have the ground clearance. You tend to want something alittle more reliable. Yes, maryland isnt known for getting alot of snow, but you never know. So it wasnt worth keeping, when i was able to get something alittle more reliable in any weather condition. as far the mpg goes, the jeep gets about 26 mpg not 17.

 

Hope the jeep stays reliable mechanically for at least the first year :-/ ...i hope it turns out well for you!!!

 

I'd say you traded down

the B can get through the snow..even my lowered one here in Wisconsin..

if I were a betting man..I'd say you will regret getting rid of your box

I guess you could measure your tanks to see the actual mileage. Unless you are already doing that.
EPA highway readings are very inaccurate.

As far as reliability is concerned, Scion is #1 as a brand overall and Jeep is somewhere near the bottom. (problems per 100 vehicles Consumer Reports data survey)

Really? I live in the hills to the east of Lake Erie, where it is not unusual to get a foot of snow while I'm at work for half the year, and my lowered box with snow tires has never let me down.



It's 30 yards to the street from that spot, and I made it without issue.

 

ours plows through the snow as well?

of course having a really good set of snow tires helps

I was afraid the xB was unreliable mechanically, but you are just saying it wasn't as good in the snow as a Jeep. Snowstorms are always a boost to 4WD sales.

The Compass does have an unusually high rating for a 4x4 -- 23 city / 28 hwy.
