06 vs 09 Motor w/ Boost
Ok so ive come to understand the 09 motor (not sure if its 08+ or what) but the new motor i have in my car is 09 and it has a higher compression than my old 06. Obviously the Plus side would be spool characteristics right? How much faster do you think it would spool a turbo being a higher compression like, alot more noticeable? Also since IT IS higher compression does that mean it is more prone to damage with boost? Like not bieng able to handle as much boost as the lower compression 05-07 motors? Any other parts of the 09 motor make it More or less boost friendly? And what do you think the gains would be comparing? say we have the same car, same turbo kit at 10 psi.. What do you think the numbers difference would be an 06 vs 09 motor?
mmm from what i know the only difference is the 07+ motors have a different maf and they have oil squirters. but please if some one else knows something i dont know chime in anytime.
i read on the ptuning fourm when they tuned the first gen tc motors its usually 10whp less then the second gen motor
the newer motors 07+ get more whp on the same kit and same tune they said

I've got my 07 at 9 psi without issue. The knock sensor that comes with the 07+ cars is much more sensitive and will save the motor much better than the 05-06's but if it's just a block swap then that won't be a factor. Just take in to account that you might have to pull a little more timing to keeps things under control.
Glad to see you're getting your car back on the road again! IDC if you had non-turbo, it's a clean car and I bet you miss having it!
