I am putting on a lip kit and I was planning on going with coilovers to elimate bounce and have the adjustablility. I understand the adjustability isn't going to be there but how much would shocks and springs help with bounce?

What bounce? Really don't notice any with my OE shocks, Eibach Prokit springs, and TRD rear swaybar. It feels pretty darned tight to me.

Are you on stock suspension? I got the same bounce about 10k miles after I installed my TRD springs. It got to the point where I couldn't stand driving it anymore. I bought the TRD shocks and it fixed the problem, huge difference in ride quality. I guess the oem ones were either blown or getting there.

oreoremix, we'll talk tomorrow. I know you are going to run some over-sized tires, with a lower offset on the front. You'll need to make sure that any spring/shock/strut combo is on the stiffer side, and not a low as you would be able to dial down with coilovers because of their adjustability. On a side note, new springs, shock & struts will run about $600, so you might just want to step up to the plate now & go for the coilovers. Like I said, we'll talk.

If after some time the suspension behavior suddenly starts changing, then you know something down there is failing, most likely the struts/shocks. KYB replacements are an upgrade over OE with a somewhat stiffer ride and they also have adjustable versions.

I installed the Eibach Prokit within a hundred miles of vehicle purchase and based on what I've read, I'm expecting them to last a fairly normal life since their final ride height and travel were established very early (affects sealing and wear of the internal gaskets). It'll be interesting to see how they do over time. I installed Prokit springs on my Eclipse as well, but that was about 2-3K after new KYB replacement struts/shocks were installed. I asked KYB if they saw any issues and they said the shocks should be fine. So far, the shocks on both cars are indeed fine.

(Of course, life of pre-existing struts/shocks also depends on the amount of lowering and driving habits.)
