Default Maaco custom jobs

I've seen the threads and pics from people who have had their xB's, etc. painted at maaco... but has anyone had a custom paint job done like a two tone? How much did you pay?

Pics would be appreciated.

I went there when I was about to paint my car and their pretty pricy. I think it was like 4-5K for a 2 tone but just with regular colors(OEM) so no kandys or shiny pearls.

Ive heard and seen there work, your gonna pay 600 plus just for paint, I just paid 640 for paint alone on my civic, not including body work , maybe I shouldnt speak for all of them, but the ones in my area arent that good

FAIL.

"why do they paint cars if they know the paint sucks"

You never head of sh*ty shops that use low quality products?

Same as cheap tattoos, The ink is crappy and will fade and look like sh*t on your skin

it depends, like any shop. prep work, painter and cost. maaco can paint any kandy paint, but it's something they order up. like any shop you pay for what you order.

Maaco is like a fast food for painting cars. Cheap and quick. And unhealthy

It's all about who works there. Buddy of mine took his RS4 bumper for his S4 and they did a great job. Just a straight OEM black but it looked great and he's had it for 2yrs no chipping or peeling.

Macco does a good job PAINTING the car, HOWEVER, they do absolutely NO prep work besides scuff the surface....

Ive seen great jobs come out of there by people prepping the car themselves the right way, block, wetsand, tack paper, etc and roll up to the place tape the car off themselves and have them spray it...

Is there a DIY on here or a video on youtube that will show me how to do that?

Its not hard..do you have a lot of body work to do? are you using bondo to fill dents, etc? If youre just looking for a quick paint job and dont want to put the time into prepping the right way

just wetsand, wash, tack paper, tape off, take your time with taping off and do it perfect the results will show

if you have dents etc or body work to fix bondo, block sand til smooth sand the car and then tack paper

Yeah that prep work is where shops get there money off you, actually painting the car isnt all that bad. Body work is no joke!! Better go buy you a orbital sander if you do it yourself, i wouldnt have made it without that thing.

I have too, then i realized how easier it is with a orbital sander haha, cant get all the spots with the sander though, still gotta get in there and get dirty.

you still need to block even with an orbital sander

So its not difficult, just time consuming? I'll look into it, and if it's something I think I can do, I'll def do it if it'll save me money and improve the results of a maaco job.

i agree with what the people are saying bout put time in on prepping, (i do this for a living) and even the prettiest paint job will flake if its not sanded and blocked correctly. and as far as maaco goes you get what you pay for ,myself have always prefered ppg paints but if your on a budget give it a shot, oh and it cost me 500 in materials to repaint and two tone my car (bodyfiller ,sandpaper, primer, paint) but i did the bodywork paint and prep myself
