Default 18x8/8.5 w/ 35/37/45 offset - need advice!

Hey guys, long time lurker here. Anyways, I've got a problem. I've searched around a bit but can't find a specific answer to my question. So here it is..

I'm sitting on a TRD drop and I'm looking to pick up a set of 225/40-18 tires with these wheels.. but I'm unsure of which setup to go with..

18x8 5x100 w/ 35 offset?

OR

18.8.5 5x100 w/ 37 offset?

OR

18x8.5 5x100 w/ 45 offset?

These are the wheels by the way (Drag DR-34s):

I'm looking for a setup that will give me the least amount of trouble (NO fender work required, NO fitment issues, longest possible life expectancy, minimal to zero rubbing, etc).

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

I'm currently running 18x8.5 35 offset and 225/40/18. It looks dope and I love it. It's as close to flush with the fender as it gets, but it has a bit of a stretch on the tire. At the begining I had some rubbing in the back against the rear bumper bracket where it meets the rear panel, but got it trimmed with a dremel and went away. I say go with 37 for peace of mind and it will still look good.

If I had the option back then I would of gone that route and I would have runned 235's instead of 225's. Still thinking about it though ;-P, just not sure if it's going to need fender rolling. BTW, I'm running HKS RS coils and a bit lower than TRD springs. Hope that helps.

Depending how much you want to work to make them fit. If you get the et45 you wont have to do a thing to the body. You can even go as low as you want. But w a 35-37 you will need to trim maybe roll some fenders. I have 18x9 et35 with 225/40/18 and the front fenders sit on my tire. They rub when i hit bumps and when i make a sharp turn.

18x8.5 +37 wrapped in 225/40. you'll be fine, trd is hardly a drop

So no fender work or anything will be needed? Once mounted and balanced these wheels would basically be "plug 'n play"?

On a TRD drop you are still Monster truckin. You wont be low enough for any fender action.

If you go 18 x 8: If looking for the flush look and don't mind rubbing against the splash guard then I would go with the +37 offset. If looking to avoid any rubbing at all then a +45 offset works very well and will still look nice since the wheel is 8 inches wide. Also, 225/40/r18 rubbers will work but and 235/40/r18 would be better.

Hope this helps!

Would rubbing against the splash guards only occur during tight turns or would it be rubbing ALL the time?

Sorry for not responding sooner, but the rubbing will occur when you hit a good size pot hole or bump. It will not rub all the time so if you dont mind the occasional rubbing then this set up good for you.

I had the same set up with my previous rims, which were 18 x 8 wrapped in 225/40/r18 with trd struts and springs drop, and that is exactly what I experienced. My current setup is 18 x 8 225/40/r18 (trd drop) +45 offset and no rubbing at all. Only problem is you don't get that wider stance look the +37 will provide. Nevertheless, I still like my set up.

Hope this helps.

No problem at all man. I really do appreciate your advice. I believe I'm going to go with the 37 offset and take a chance. I tend to be a very slow driver... girlfriend hates that about me. :D

Default 35 is good

I am currently running OZ Ultraleggs 18x8 35 offset, a trd drop, and 225/40 18 with zero issues.

Thanks Dr. Doom.. that really helped clear any lingering concern!

They should arrive on Monday. I'm stoked! :D

EDIT: By the way, would it be wise to get an alignment once I put my new wheels on?

No prob, I think it would be a good idea to get an alignment to make sure your new shoes wear properly. What tires did you get? Post pics when you throw the wheels on.

Go with 35. I'm running a 9.5 wheel at 35 and I only rub the front splash guard. With a TRD drop, you won't have to worry.
