CORPUS CHRISTI, TX. – Stop #2 of the 2010 Scion Regional Amateur Skateboard Tour will take place on Saturday, May 29th at Cole Skate Park in Corpus Christi, TX. Action starts at 12:00noon and it is FREE to the public.
Organized by Geiger Media in 2009, the RAT Tour was created to give local amateur skaters an opportunity to come hang out with their friends and compete in a relaxed, fun setting.
“We are excited to build on the success that we had in our inaugural season”, said event organizer Bill Geiger. “The level of talent in this region is unbelievable and I am stoked that we can provide a platform for all the local riders to show what they got!”
The 2010 Scion Regional Amateur Tour consists of six (6) events taking place in public skate parks across Texas and into Oklahoma. Top amateur skaters of all ages will compete in both street and bowl competitions for over $10,000 in cash/prizes. The events will also feature interactive vendor displays, skate related art displays and live music from DJ/Drummer duo – Detroit Red.
Corpus Christi based Makeshift Skateboards will be hosting a RAT Kick-off Party at The House of Rock at 511 Starr Street in Downtown on Friday night, May 28th. The event will feature live music from several local bands and is open to all ages.
“We are very fortunate to have Scion on board as the Title Sponsor of the 2010 series,” said Geiger. “This partnership is a great match because the Scion brand is based on self-expression, creativity and enjoyment in life, and the Regional Amateur Tour really embraces those qualities. They are definitely an integral part of helping us take things to the next level in our second year!”
In addition to Scion and local dealer Champion Scion, Stop #2 of The RAT series is made possible with support from Cricket Communications, Monster Energy Drink, Skullcandy, Sector 9, City Stars Skateboards, Kicker Audio, Sk8te Skins, Spy Optic, Str8Sk8, Covered Up Surf and Skate, Benjamins, Expressions, Makeshift Skateboards and House of Rock. Media partners include C-101 Radio station and The Vent Magazine. The event is FREE to the public and will start at 12:00noon.
