Default Shorted radio.. Now no power...

Found the problem.... I fried the red power wire on the cars harness. Now I have to find out how to replace that wire.

I'm not sure about the xB, but there's another fuse box under the driver's side dash in the tC. It has most of the fuses for the interior stuff, ilumination, radio power, etc... It's worth a try. Good luck.

Yes, the XB also has another fuse box under the driver side dash.

How did it short out? Were you cutting apart the factory radio harness? Are your wires uninsulated? Something doesn't sound right here.

yeah, you shouldn't have to replace a wire, just a fuse. UNLESS, someone replaced the fuse for that wire with one that was of a higher rating, then didn't blow when the wire was shorted, which would then catch the wire on fire burning the insulation. If this is the case then just trace the wire back through the dash and try to find where it stops, if it goes too far then you will just need to run a new one.
