So I placed an order for my tC at longo toyota. I've been cruising the forums for the longest time trying to make sure I'm as informed as possible since this will be my first time purchasing a car. I came across a couple posts where people said their dealer charged them $1000 for something called Master Value Adjustment (M.V.A.). I've been trying to find out info on this online, but haven't had any luck. Did everyone else here get charged this fee? What is it for? Cuz it sounds like a scam to me and I don't feel like giving away my hard earned money. I wonder if it's something you can talk your way out of. Is there anyone else here who got charged this amount? If so, which dealer?

MVA sounds like a euphemism for Additional Dealer Profit. This would be against Scion's Pure Pricing Policy (i.e., the price on the factory sticker is the price you pay) and any dealer applying such a charge would be in danger of getting in big trouble with Scion corporate.

Can you cite the posts you found MVA mentioned? (b/c the search function stinks)

Yes, it's certain dealers. And if it's not there when you price it up through the scion.com site then they are not compliant with the pure price mantra. Either way, if there's MVA/ADP or any other tagged on charge (including doc fees over $50-$100) go somewhere else.

It is not against the scion covnent or pure price to charge any of these fees. Pure price does NOT mean that the price is going to be the same no matter where you go. Pure Price means that you pay the dealerships published price, not the price on scion.com. As long as that dealership is charging everyone there that fee they are completley in compliance. If they charged you that fee and in the same day waved it for someone else they are not in compliance and will lose inventory. Like I said I am not defending these dealers I am only stating the rules of pure price. Just make a few calls and see who isn't charging these fees and buy from them.

No. If it was a "dealer documentation fee" then you can. But they can shrug the "valve adjustment" off and regular delivery maintenance. All you would be able to do is present your evidence to Scion Customer Experience (866-70-SCION) and that dealer would be audited and wil lose inventory allocation. If they keep it up they can lose the Scion franchise as well.

I doubt you get your money back, but it would show on their audit and they would lose 30% of there inventory (if this is a first offense for them). And it would be when you signed the contracts not when you ordered the car.

if you have not taken delivery i think you can get out of the deal. i also don't think you can buy a car in advance. you can put down a deposit (normally refundable) but actually signing paper i don't think so. if you are in longo toyota area you should come to long beach and see kenny at cabe toyota. they will treat you right. tell him i sent you. good luck hope you can get out of your poor deal.
