Default Does the strup cat-back have drone?

Just like the title says.

I'm pretty much decided on the Strup exhaust. $320 for for a catback system instead of the axle back Tanabe's for $370

I have read a lot of posts about annoying drone at idle and cruising speeds. how bad is it in the cabin?

I wanted to get people's opinion on this issue with this specific exhaust. plz no threadjacking!

personally, I think it's ok (a bit ricey with the 4inch tip, but whatever)

but if wifey finds it annoying...well then...that's $320 down the drain.

Thanks for any opnions you may have!

With the middle resonator/cat (known as the scubatank) in place, no typical catback/axleback exhaust you can get your hands on will drone.

Go with the TRD knock off catback, off ebay for $180, Thats what I bought, It sounds good, not loud and obnoxious like a 4" tip. Save your money and buy the tenzo R CAI and the TRD knock off for the price of those crappy exhausts. I have it on my DD xb2 and I love it. If you want more info p.m. me, I dont get on much. But just trying to help you save your money..

i think the ebay exhaust removes the cat doesn't it?

doesn't that make it illegal then?

There is still another cat, but technically, it is illegal. Although I highly doubt you're going to get in trouble for that unless you're in a very strict state.

It's "okay". Cheap, and stainless steel, but the mufflers are basically useless and won't last long (they're mostly pure glasspacks)....it's up to you.

^^ x2, you can't get $300-400 quality out of an $80 exhaust system...

I sound like a broken record.

well then the strup exhaust is the one i think i'll go with...i can live with "that looks like a fart can/rice!!"

the thing that is stopping me is if it's too loud inside the cabin cuz then wifey will remove IT

I really doubt that the Strup catback will be too loud inside the cabin unless you add a header or remove the scuba tank but if wifey doesn't like it, there is another option to replacing it. If you look at Strup's website they offer a silencer that installs into the 4" tip. I had a similar silencer in my CXR 4" tip and it made a huge reduction in drone and sound level.

I've got the Strup exhaust installed on my xB, it's got a nice and low sound but there's not much of a drone to be heard in the cabin.
