Basically a spring is a coil of wire, right. With decent quality control any of these springs will "work" in our cars. So whats the difference??? The spring rate and type of spring are the most important to consider. Are these springs specific or progressive and what is the spring rate. That being said... Do we know? :?: That would be best to know when buying sprigns. What are the factory spring rates and what are the aftermarket. We Should start a thread and gather the data!

We are all about hearsay and conjecture around here...Hard facts are hard to come by sometimes.
Since very few of us are racing our cars, most people here just want something to lower it for looks, and maybe improve the overall ride. If improved handling is a by product, then that is just icing.
I primarily wanted improved handling performance...and when i bought my springs, it seemed as if TRD was the best choice...

tanabe has GF210 and NF210 both with same drop..
ones for COMFORT(nf210) and the aggresive one is GF210.
it says that GF210 is stiffer. supposed to be better for track.

if looking for best performance, Id reccomend non progressive springs, especially in the rear where the geometry is really bad.
theres ur preview dont mind the towels n everything jus
washed it after the rain was ova :P

yes you are right. here they are
tanabe df210:
Spring Drops: Front: 2.2 Inch Rear: 2.1 Inch
Spring Rates: Front: 2.8 kg/mm Rear: 3.0 kg/mm
interesting; front is stiffer, rear is softer then the tein's...
anybody know the effects?

To add to the list of specs, I'm going to be bringing in some kg/mm springs with the following specs:
NP21 Maxdown(more for street use):
Down: 55mm front/55mm rear
Rate: 1.7 - 3.0 front/1.0 - 3.7 rear
DR Racing (more performance oriented...as you can see from the higher spring rates):
Down: 55mm front/55mm rear
Rate: 2.2 - 3.8 front/1.1 - 4.4 rear
Springs are progressive, thus the spring rate range. Between the bB and ist, kg/mm actually has like 10 different spring sets (not counting the ones for the AWD models), and you can order the springs individually, so if you know EXACTLY what sort of ride you're going for, you can actually order different rates from the different sets to fine tune your suspension. Of course, the front/rear sets such as the NP21 Maxdown and DR Racing are tested and proven to be the best match so there's no need to mix and match unless you really really know what you're doing and what you're going after. It's nice to have that option though. Oh yah, and kg/mm is one of the more well-known suspension manufacturers from Japan. Suspension is their life, and they're pretty well-known in the motorsports world. So the quality is of course top notch.

Hey that's totally true I think more than 70% of the time. Most people are going to want to get springs just for their daily driver, so as long as they get the nice looks, with an adequate ride, I think that's all that really matters. Then there's the other percentage of folks who might be more critical of their suspension matters, and more concerned with how the different spring setups affect their car's handling. So it really does come down to the individual and what they're after.

ok what are you looking for in a spring? It would seem from your sig that you are comin to us from a mustang family and are probably lookin for the same set-up as your other car. What do you want your spring to do, stiff, soft lower or just a smooth ride? :D Just asking so we can give you a straight answer, we are here to help. 8)

i know rsr has some down springs out, from what i was told they are a much more "race" oriented spring, they will lower the car around 2 in but will be noticlbly stiffer
