I am looking to begin modding my 2010 Flint Mica tC. After some research, a special thanks to the stickies, I discovered that all CAIs for my tC don't meet California's CARB standards. Rolling with the punches, per say, I looked further into other modifications and decided that I wanted to do my exhaust. S'more research and, again, California emissions laws require that I can't add anything but an axleback so a catback is out of the question.
Straight to the point - I decided that I liked the sounds of the HNK Hi-Power axleback exhaust and the Greddy Ti-C axleback exhaust. My question is which do you wonderful people recommend? I could easily go either way. I prefer the low growl and aggressive tones of both, over the dirt-bike sound, but if I overlooked another viable option I'm open to suggestions.
Also, since all the CAIs that I've found don't meet CARB standards would it be optimal to use the drop in K&N air filter rather than stock?

I think CARB legality is overrated tbh. I bought my car new and never touched any of the emissions equipment for 3 years. I was never hassled by anyone. Just recently, I installed an Injen SRI (not CARB exempt) and havent looked back. I did keep the OE airbox so when I sell the car, it will go back to stock.
I also bought a tsudo midpipe (cat delete) and plan to install soon. As long as you are responsible about it, no one is going to give you trouble.

Wish I had that kind of luxury around here with cops. They pull people over all the time to see if they can find anything to ticket them for. I've been given a fix it ticket for a broken tail light that wasn't even out. I asked the cop to recheck which one was out and everything was fine, he still wrote the ticket and I had to go through the hassle of court and paying the fees.
I'd like to go as legal as I can simply because of the local police's eagerness to write tickets for anything and everything - no warning given. If it wasn't for that I would do what you are doing and simply go back to stock for smogs and such.

I agree. Carb is overrated. I have the Injen cai and even if I have to take an emissions test Its easy enough to changge back to the stock.
To answer your question about the K&N, I had one and I never noticed a difference except the fact that its nice to not have to change it.
As for the exhaust, I like the HKS. I like the sound of it. And, I do believe the HKS sits at a different angle than normal... But I may be wrong.

Completely down to preference. You can't go wrong with either one. However, I like the sound of the HKS better, so I went with that one. I dont think the Greddy angles, but the HKS angles out quite a bit.

Right on guys, thanks! I was leaning towards the HKS too. Gonna order this sucker tomorrow and install it the day I get it in. Step 1 of modding my mica. Appreciate the posts a ton!
