Default security system protection???

The optional Scion security system... does it protect from people breaking into the trunk and also under the hood? If not I would be better off getting a different system.
People like to attempt to break into my car so I want to make sure it offers good protection. Any info would be appreciated.

Can someone out there tell me if this is true. When you buy your new scion it already has an alarm in it. If you don't want it, they connect wires somewhere under the steering wheel. I was told that on the tacoma trucks, that if you disconnect this connection, you'll have the alarm on. Does anyone know about this???

I think what you're talking about is the immobilizer. Every Scion Tc comes with an engine immobilizer. Basically if you look at the center console there's a thing sign at the bottom with a key symbol and a flashing light. The chip in your key is the only way to start the car. If you try to start the car without the proper key, the engine cuts off and won't start. It's supposed to prevent someone from hotwiring your car. It's not the same as the security system.

You got snowed on that, the dealer has to prove anything that is covered by your warranty failed because of the alarm. it called the magnusson act, it is a law.

If you look at www.customtacos.com/tech and look at the "2003 Keyless Entry System Upgrade" it explains what i'm tslking about. I was wonder if it is the same with the scion because it took 10 minutes, and the tech worker did it infront of us when he undid the alarm. I know the alarm is an option - a $600.00 option.

I heard that any electrical work that u do outside the dealership can void ur warrantee. That includes audio work.

Like he said, they have to prove it. with the Audio equipment, maybe they'll give u hassle cause it puts alot more stress on the car in some cases. but an alarm won't do anything. I debated on the alarm thing but i decided to get the CompuStar alarm system. and when I took it to the dealer afterwards, they never said anything to me about it. even the dealership told me you can do it if you want.

I just intalled a DEI Hornet 727T in my TC. It adds dual-stage shock sensor and kill circuit as well as Aux out for anything else cool. I intalled it because I can control the alarm with the OEM Key.
